March 9, 201115 yr wow jagex really keeps this game updated. i stopped playing shortly after slayer was released, since then i've logged in maybe three times until two weeks ago, where i kept reading about the return of the wilderness (i wasn't even aware it was removed) and somehow i gave this game a chance again. now i'm hooked like i was back in '03 when i was 13. lol, this brings back memories. anyway, i'm completely lost. like, the game has changed so much and i haven't played in so long that i get lost sometimes and there are so many new items, armors, weapons and skills that are completely overwhelming. i've read skill guides on tip.it, runehq, rune wiki and the official site, but there is so much stuff i don't even know what to do, where to start and even how the skills are important (wtf is the point of hunter, construction and farming?) i've been leveling up construction, but so far is seems like a money sink with no real use other than the bragging rights of having a house and inviting people, which seems pointless if everyone you knew who played this game left it a long time ago. another problem is the fact that i mainly used to fish sharks as my main source of income, and i was in shock when i saw that sharks are now going for half the price they used to go for. no way in hell am i selling sharks for 500 gold a piece, so now i'm broke, don't have any good armor for training or quests, and i don't know how to go about gaining money. speaking of quests, holy ****. i remember having done all the quests when i stopped playing, and right now i have only done like only one third of all members quests. what are some quests with good rewards i should begin working with? the only one i've done is the one required to begin the summoning skill. oh, and here are my stats http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/2146/statszo.png thanks in advance
March 9, 201115 yr Ok, first of all, welcome back. Posted your photo for convenience. Construction is useful for a lot of things, getting a portal room and gilded altar in your room to mention some things. You're going to want to use slayer as your main combat lvl'ing skill if you enjoy slaying. Dungeoneering is also something to start as it has amazing rewards, but be aware that the first few levels are really boring and do not give a good picture of the skill. When you've gotten a bit of money back, you might want to catch up on some quests, get 70 prayer and if you get a lot of money, high herblore for extreme potions. Charms for summoning is gathered easy by slaying(at least up to the levels where it becomes useful - 52+). Other than that, there's a lot of stuff you're going to have to figure out yourself. But Runescape 5 years ago and now are two different stories - it's a lot better now imo. Farming can be a really good source of money for the time it takes to do(herbs), but you need a bit higher level to plant decent herbs. Also at higher levels hunter can be decent money. Once you get a base of maybe 10m gp I suggest you start learning how to flip using the GE, as that can be very rewarding with little time invested. Hope you got some useful answers out of this. Feel free to add me if you have any further questions. Skeletal wyvern guide: 100-150 crimsons per hour and PROFIT
March 9, 201115 yr OLD SKILLSMelee - Assuming you're not rich but have some gp the best option for you would be abbysal whip and barrows armour (torag chest and legs), dragon boots, glory etc.Range - Crossbows are quite good and 1 handed. After 55 slayer you can use broad arrows with rune x-bow which does the job.Prayer - In player owned houses you can build gilded alters that if you use bones on you get extra exp (I think it's 2.5x normal) so do NOT buy bones to bury, use someone's altar to train prayer. Also, quite expensive to buy (25-30 gp/exp) because of the new high level prayer 'book'Magic - In addition to normal and ancient there is lunar mage which is primarily good for skilling. Training methods are the good old high alch, superheat, etcRunecrafting - Zamorak Magic Institute altar or using the Spirit Grahhk familiar (for its teleport) are the most common training methodsAgility - not much changed, some high level coursesHerblore - Got plenty of new high level untradable potions which made training quite expensive but very usefull.Theiving - There is a guild I beleive but I don't know much about it. Pyramid plunder and blackjacking bandits are common training methods.Crafting - Not much new here that I know of. Making blue d'hide bodies is good exp/gpFletching - Nothing new, making yew longs is still popularSlayer - Some new masters, most notible Sumona and Kuradel. Do the Smoking Kills quest to unlock Summona and a point system that rewards you for doing tasks without using the Burthrope master to change. With the points you can learn to make a slayer mask which combines all the headgear from slayer into 1 item.Mining - Up to 77 nothing has changed really, powermining granite/iron is still decent exp. At 77 and 80 you can mine concentrated coal and gold respectivly. They pretty much turned mining into woodcutting. They're in the living rock caverns (warning: many lvl 120+ agressive npcs there). People use one world so that in the massive number of players (and bots) the chance that they are targeted is slim. Decent mining exp with a bank deposit right there means little attention has to be paid to mining with good profits.Smithing - Same as always. We were promised a bog gamechanging update to it. That came out yesterday and is disapointing to say the least.Fishing - Not much new. I don't know if Swan Song was out when you quit, but monkfish are half decent exp and gp.Cooking - not much newFiremaking - not much newWoodcutting - Ivy grows on walls and gives loads of exp and no logs or anything to fill your inventory so you can pretty much cut forever in 1 place as long as you reclick after the ivy falls. Really fast training, IMO ruined wc. NEW SKILLSDungeoneering - Some people call this more of a minigame. Pretty much, you go through an instanced dungeon either alone or with 5 people. There is skilling, combat and puzzles all involved and then a boss at the end of each floor. You get tokens (10:1 exp:token ratio) that can be used to buy awesome things like chaotic wepons, new abilities (save bars when smithing, herblore ingredients) etc.Hunter - You go to a habitat of a creature and use various traps to capture them. The best GP reward comes from hunting red chinchompas which are used for range trainging (throw at enemies, hits up to 9 at once).Farming - You can plant crops including vegetables, flowers, herbs and trees. Tree farming is great exp but seeds are costly, herb farming is slow exp but good money maker. Best to plant, then go off and do soemthing like slayer, then come back later and harvest. When it came out people just stood beside the patch waiting for it to grow.Summoning - REALLY USEFULL. As you've done the quest you get the main point. You summon familiars to follow you and aid you. From beasts of burden (carry things for you, like extra inv space) to gathering familiars (spawn items in their inv that are often valuable like herbs/gems) to combat familars that can help you in multi combat zones. Thats my overveiw of skills. I wasn't P2P back then so I'm not 100% sure what was all out back then but I hope I helped.
March 9, 201115 yr Merchanting, especially flipping in the Grand Exchange is the way to go if you wanna make quick buck with little effort. My lame drops:6 Effigys1 D Med - 1 D Dagger1 Verac's Helmet - 1 Guthan's Platebody
March 9, 201115 yr Best GP reward from Hunter comes indirectly from Jadinkos and Juju pots, Or directly from Grenwalls. Chinchompas are not the best xp or money.
March 9, 201115 yr Okay, well I'll focus on the cash problem. I don't have a lot of cash myself but I certainly get by. Now, what you're going to want to do straight away is to plant some stuff in allotments to get your farming level up. Once you can farm toadflax, farm them...it shouldnt' take too long, and it makes a good profit/herb. Then what's a good idea is to get hold of Varrock Armour 2. That's part of the varrock acheivement diary, and allows you to buy several battlestaves a day. Basically a free 50k per day, which when you combine it with some other shop runs is good for getting hold of quick cash: 1. Buy all vials, which come in "vial packs" for convenience.2. Buy all feathers.3. Buy the death runes in the magic guild and elemental runes if they'll profit you. To sell all these you'll need to go to the "Grand Exchange" or "GE " in North-West Varrock. Talk to the GE tutor and he will tell you how to use it, then sell your stuff there. Next, another low-cost cash supplement is brewing. To do this well you need to create three main quests: Ghosts Ahoy, Cabin Fever, and The Giant Dwarf, all of whcih are very useful for other reasons (ghsots ahoy gives a one-click refillable free teleport, for example). Obtain some of the stuff and look up how to brew greenman's ale. Every few days you can collect eight glasses of mature ale, which is worth about 50k a glass. Finally, you want to do "Throne of Miscellania" and then "Royal Trouble" which allows you to manage a small kingdom and collect income from there. That generates quite a bit of cash-obviously to do it effectively look up a guide, I'm just giving you the basics for things to..."look into". As for proper cash supplies: cash is hard but not absurd to get. Once you have 10-20M you can start merchanting, which if you know what you're doing generates cash very quickly. There are several things you could try: firstly, you could really grind out yoru mining skill. There's a cool thing called "shooting stars" which is good for that. Once you can mine runite, that would be rather good cash (although perhaps not as good as it used to be). Another method is training hunter. Hunter has a lot of money-makers due to the summoning skill-the trick is to combine experience with profit so that you get a good spread of both. The methods I would look at are Polar Kebbit Tracking and Swamp Lizard Hunting. I hope that helps. I'm not an efficienado.
March 9, 201115 yr Other things you could buy from shops and sell is unf broad bolts and arrows from slayer masters. Seaweed from Arhein, things from the chest in lumby castle if you've done RFC(those profit a lot) Skeletal wyvern guide: 100-150 crimsons per hour and PROFIT

March 9, 201115 yr If I was in your position, I would dg until I had the scroll of life and cleansing. Then I would farm herbs and make unf pots for money. Unf pots with the scroll is 1.5-3m/h, that's the best money you'll be able to make with those lvls. Then the rest of the time do whatever you want. 2480+ total
March 10, 201115 yr Author thanks for the replies so far guys. i've tried dungeoneering, had to go do it alone and it was painfully boring. only got past the first dungen, i think it would be more fun with people but there was noone else there, and when there was people they were saying stuff like "F11" or whatever and i had no idea what they wanted lol. plus it seems like a slow skill to raise - spent like 10 minutes going through the first dungeon only to get like 90 exp? screw that. i have the gist of farming down, but where would i go to get seeds? i want to plant tomatoes since it seems like the ideal seed to get exp fast but i have no idea where i would go about getting them - and the guides aren't really helping me in this regard. i'm currently trying hunting, and it seems like a slow skill to raise as well. right now at the feldip hills trying to catch crimson swifts but they take forever and only give like 30 exp. wtf? for the bonus exp weekend tomorrow i just plan on melee training along with slayer until i get to 1.1, then hit summoning.

Most people just solo or with friends until like 70ish then they look for real times. I agree, it's painfull to start, but the usefull rewards you'll want (scroll of life for farming most notably) on need a couple K tokens. You can either get seeds from buying them at the Grand Exchange (GE) or theiving master farmers in Draynor village. Hunter is pretty slow at the start too, I'm sure there's a good beginner guide in the Archeive of Wisdom somewhere. That sounds like a good plan for BXPW.
March 10, 201115 yr A great way to start hunter off if you find birds boring (I know I did) is to hunt polar kebbits. Once you've got the gist of it, it may not be faster but it's a lot more fun and the extra cash certainly makes it more interesting. I'm not an efficienado.
March 10, 201115 yr To elaborate on Dungeoneering, the reason you said "screw that" is because you have only done one dungeon. Everything starts off slow but if you keep on training the skill, you will find it more and more useful and fun. You should really be dungeoneering with a few (1-4) of your friends that know what they are doing. Once you've gotten the hang of the skill, you will find it alot faster to train at those higher lvls. Honestly, if you give up on dungeoneering now, you will regret it later. Comparatively, I get 30-40k xp a dungeon at 70 dungeoneering with only 30 min spent on a LARGE dungeon (64 rooms), so if you train it consistently, you will reap the benefits from it later. Really? Cause as I recall it was you who was the one cussing me at base. Also, re-read what you just said: one 15 second delay (which is an exaggeration to begin with) ruins floor times? You are beyond ridiculous.
