Hegemony

Mmmm, 3 things first:

First

China doesn't have an Emperor, and if he is the figurehead you say, then him saying 'Arrest' inconsequential, since the Officials, the ones with real power, will just do whatever they like and justify it later...or would have if they hadn't died.

Second

Chinese Police are loyal to the Government before Justice (or so I am told). If not, then if you saw someone shooting at someone else, you would protect them, except if you knew that the person who was shooting was a police officer/official, but if they are also shooting at a police officer/official...then what do you do? Given that you can't exactly stop and ask questions...So either you wait for orders, which inevitably come from the survivor...or you pick a side. If you arrest someone then you are liable to get shot, and if it is Policeman against Policeman then you have no idea who you can trust...Believe me, I have written University Papers on the psychology of the break down of society in a crisis.

Third

Dead men tell no tales...If there was a trial where the only crime was getting promoted ahead of them, or snubbing someone somewhere...better to kill them and say they had a gun...or some such.

So its not exactly easy to formulate responses when your China doesn't correspond to real world China in any real way.

In any event, it is not unpullbackable (quadruple word score!).

There is a lot of confusion at the moment and you could probably bring most of the groups back under your control with no major trouble, and Mather is sending you a bunch of troops to assist you.

Obviously dealing with Russia, India, Burma, Tibet, the Republic of China and Vietnam will be more troublesome...Big stick or walk softly, to quote the vernacular.

@Spork

Until they are destroyed, upkeep is:

For every 10 Billion you spend, your Tax rate increases by 1%.

So it is easy =)

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Although we disagree can we just come to a comprimise of at least assuming that the police actually did there job with in the month or so. Assuming that they did do there job then I would actually have a reasonable amount of land left. Its not realistic to assume to 100% of China rebelled and its all in chaos.

Can I have an estimate of how many of the police are still loyal and alive.

Just a suggestion, in cases such as this could we please have a 'loyalty map' with red being arranged forces against the country and white being loyalists to the emperor.

I think I've made a fairly reasonable one with Bejing having many loyalists and poorer area's that are further away from the palace have many disloyal people with a few dispersed loyal people. Remember red and white don't have to be actual fighters, they can just be normal people with an opinion.

Edit: All copys of the research done last year (the one I PMed you with) is burnt. Original research is sent to Japan.

Japan sends a message to Burma, India, Russia and Vietnam, asking what cirumstances would be required for them to hand back the areas they claimed (cash, tech, political deals...).

Dude, your capital isn't Hong Kong, and I dubt you have loyalists in Laos, Nam and Cambodia. Also... Afghanistan?!? Why the hell would the Afghani be loyal to you?

@Resistance, its not 100% chaos and take over, its that you didn't step outside your palace...so the local faction just took over everything outside the palace gates.

Police: 900,000 probably.

Loyalty...you would need to send out envoys and what not...though you can safely assume that Tibet is not on your side.

@Mather

What are you offering?

Resistance, I do the updates once a day, so you may want a full plan typed up, or some guidelines so I know what people are supposed to do.

Doesn't mean that that is what they will do, but its what they will probably do.

Can't imagine anything you could offer...

Well, cash, obviously, I still have almost half of my budget left. Japs are also top of the world on robotics. Then there's power generation, I thing both Laos, India and Nam could need some powerplants or a deal for distrubuted energy. I can offer desalination plants. Basically whatever they need, they can ask in return, I'll decide wether or not I can/will give it to them.

I haven't invaded, I gave the Chinese government some extra forces with which to preserve peace, unless the Russians (which it apears have taken the area in vincinity of Beijing) shot at them, then they're just standing around in the forbidden city, waiting for orders. And there's nowhere they could possibly get those services at a price they could afford, there's a reason those nations have large areas of underdevelopment.

Nah, the universe collapsed and sucked your bonuses in

But seriously, you are working on the super-government with the other Baltic States, not exactly 'not radically altering my countries political landscape'

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

I don't see how I'm doing anything radical.

It's a REALLY big shaft.

I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.

how are you going to ignore my posts when I'm offering to let you live as my vassal in two weeks time?

The funny thing is that he has control of an army 1000th the size of your population. One that is 2/3 the size of the IRL Indonesian military.

The funny thing is that he doesn't actually control that army. WHEE CLUSTER[bleep]!

Errr, so there is a lot of killing going on, huh?

Brazil asks the permission of China and other powers involved if it could send a single carrier group with medical and food supplies, to help alleviate the general chaos and dying going on. I would ask the UN, but they kinda suck/don't exist.

Note: I'm not taking any sides in this, so my people will not interfere in the fighting (only in self-defence) and only help civilians.

Could you only help the general Bejing area, powerful crime lords will be controlling everywhere else.

That would seem biased towards the Chinese government, but do I have permission to remain in China's territory?

I think that the crime lords won't attack Brazilian troops that are providing medical supplies, but my troops are capable of protecting themselves.
