Favourite song intro's

The Buddha version of 'Carousel' by Blink 182 has an amazing bass intro. Not amazing in the way that it's really hard to play but just simple and very effective. This song made me like the band, listen now.

Yeah, its the best part of the song.

It's played with such confidence it's breathtaking.

"Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"

I might get slated for this, but for an introduction no-one could forget, The Final Countdown by Europe has to be considered. Just who doesn't know that?

Plus, the guitar solo in the middle is amazing and often overlooked.

Yeah man. Not one of my favourites, and it's probably the most overplayed song ever; everybody has heard it at least 100 times in their life. But really, to come up with that intro requires a genius - and the solo is probably one of my top 10 solos ever. John Norum is a great guitarist.

Ironically, John Norum left the band because of that song (or was it the album with the same title?). He said everything was too keyboard-based and didn't leave any room for the guitar. :P

I have a hilarious video of some kids doing a live performance of that song: the keyboardist can't even play the chorus/intro remotely right, the vocalist sounds like he swallowed a toad or something, and the lead guitarist can't have played guitar for more than a few months... and him attempting the solo is just priceless.

I could post a link to it if anybody wants.

It's like something off the NES and then when he sings...and messes it up!! Oh man!!! Everyone has to watch this! :D

Plus, I spotted Afro Ninja at the top too :P

Yeah, and I love it when the guy walks infront of the camera - also the guy backstage carrying back equipment (or whatever he does, been a while since I saw it) etc. Very comical things. :P

And the fact that there's nobody in the audience.

To come up with something similar. Eye of the Tiger. Oh my God, all those memeries of a few years ago. Going to the beach with my friends when I was in France Playing that song, humming along with the intro, driving back to the campside, windows and top open, song playing loud. Ah, the memories. :)
