I realy liked the Octavarium begining. Yeah, it's very slow, but it's one of the few songs that in the begining, has a real calm mood to it. And the song it's self is great.

octavarium: that thing he plays is called a continuum fingerboard. its an amazing experience to see him play it. he played it live for over 5 mins on the intro to octavarium, all eyes were on him, never seen so many people interested in the player and the equipment they were using equally.

I myself love the intro to Adam's Songs - Blink 182

simple but sounds so great

Stay Together For The Kids riff is so much better.

It's more skilled.. but I dunno Adam's song appealed more to me, but I love both

adams song is their best song, period, followed closly by dysentery gary.

Metal fans, check out my band!

It's almost impossible to list all the intros I like, and I don't really have any favorites I basically like em all the same, so I'll just list a few...

AC/DC - Thunderstruck

AC/DC - Highway to Hell

AC/DC - Back in Black

Led Zeppelin - Immigrant (the "A A AAA aa AAA")

Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven

Eric Clapton (D&D) - Layla

Eric Clapton (Cream) - Sunshine of Your Love

Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall

Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall part 2

Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water

Guns N Roses - Welcome to the Jungle

I think I may as well just make a list...There's really no point in choosing just one. There's too much good music with great intros.

Metallica - Nothing Else Matters

Metallica - Enter Sandman

Metallica - Fade To Black

Metallica - Sad But True

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under The Bridge

Sublime - Pawn Shop

Sublime - Summertime (short intro, but easy groovin')

Eagles - One of These Nights

Eagles - Lyin' Eyes

Eagles - Witchy Woman

Ozzy Osbourne - Mr. Crowley

Ozzy Osbourne - Bark at the Moon

There is another one that I like as well. It's not an instrumental intro, like most of the aforementioned ones, in my post and in others. The song is Boogie Woogie Wu by ICP. It's actually a speken word intro, done by Alice Cooper. I'll even post the intro for you all (don't worry, no cursing or anything).

"The beast lives out of the raging storm in the dead of night

The ravenous, blood-sick creatures searches for it's sacrifice

Through the hideous darkness, it lurches, driven by death itself

Only the satisfaction of slaughter will cause it to return to

The darkness from which it came"

Muse - Sunburn

Possibly the best piano intro to a song ever.

Ya, Muse are experts in those exhilerating intros; there isn't a single other band that can make me play air-guitar as convincing as Muse.

One of my other Muse fav's is Plug In Baby, that solo... yummie. The army marching opening fading out into the intro of Apocalypse Please is also sublime.
