High level gear

While Godswords aren't that expensive and doesn't have any high requirements, atleast one of them should in my opinion be considered high level gear. That one is, of course, the Saradomin Godsword, cause of it's wonderful special attack, Healing Blade.

Can inflict up to 10% max hit damage and restores half of this damage to your lifepoints, and a small percentage to your Prayer. You will receive a minimum of 100 life points and 5 Prayer.

It also drains only 50% of your special attack bar. Remember, all high levels does not PK/Bosshunt, but instead they prefer Slayer or killing monsters for money or charms. The discussion of Enhanced Excalibur (400LP one) vs Saradomin Godsword is a topic up for discussion, but in my opinin the SGS is better most of the time at 99 attack and strength.

MAGIC:

WEAPON Chaotic Staff = Staff of Light = Master Wand - Chaotic staff for Damage, Master wand for accuracy, Staff of light for a nice middle ground and rune savings.

Where do you really need the +3 mage attack or whatever the master wand adds? +3 mage attack is not going to be more useful then the 5% extra damage* sol adds or the 10% extra damage* the chaotic staff adds. The only thing the master wand has going for it imo is that mage pures can use it.

*In the magic damage column.

Also, what's the amulet of ranging like compared to fury again? Overall your list was pretty damn good but a few areas not 100% accurate.

When you're PKing, magic attack can often matter more. For instance, while TBing / Entangling, I'd take an extra .5% accuracy over an additional 10% damage (on a wonderful max hit of 30) any day. It sort of applies to Ancients too - you're usually trying to force them to change to mage pray and/or freeze them. You'll lose a lot more kills because you didn't have 20 more seconds to deal damage than you will because the 3-4 casts you used didn't do 10% more damage.

Well, the 3a mage amulet actually has more magic attack then arc stream.

@ Above poster:

I think you're about to start a flame-fest where people point out that you don't even usually need that healing in the first place on slayer, that prayer potions are really cheap, SGS offers really negligible prayer restore, and that a dragon claw spec with soul split could probably average to 320 worth of healing a spec. Oh yeah, soul split is another reason why the SGS healing isn't needed. Not to mention most tasks can be done with just a unicorn for healing anyways...

Squab unleashes Megiddo! Completed all quests and hard diaries. 75+ Skiller. (At one point.) 2000+ total. 99 Magic.

my difinition of noob is i dont like u, either u are better then me or u are worst them me

Buying spins make you a bad person...don't do it. It's like buying nukes for North Korea.

Well if it bothers you that the game is more fun now, then you can go cry in a corner. :shame:

your article was the equivalent of a circumcized porcupine

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

Sgs specs have a low damage output compared to claws, about as much healing as an eee spec, and tiny prayer restore. They are alright for waterfiends, having a crush option, and since only a bunyip doesn't always work there, and since you are using a low-dps weapon there already you're not losing much dps. But if you're going top-end waterfiend slaying you're using a cmaul and you are losing a bit of damage from the specs, and eee + ovl is a very convenient combo.

In the end you can look at places where you would use sgs as a maxed player, and that comes to no places at all. If you were maxed & slaying, you wouldn't need a healing spec. If you were bossing in any shape or form you wouldn't have the accuracy to heal well with sgs or you'd need the high damage from claws or, rarely, the defence reduction from bgs/darklight.

I wanted to do something, so here is the list of the top 2 to 4 pieces of gear for any inventory slot, assuming you have at least 80 in all combat stats, and really the conceivable best bank of any pro RSers. No PVP armours were included because they're stupid and I hate them

MELEE:

HELM Torva Helmet > Helm of Neitiznot = Verac's Helm - they each have different uses but they're the only real viable contenders outside of helmets that have set effects (like Dharok's)

AMULET Amulet of Fury - best amulet slot due to it's balanced attack, strength and prayer bonuses.

LEGS Torva Platelegs > Bandos Tassets = Verac's Skirt = Proselyte Cuisse, Torva for the Strength and freakish lifepoint boost, Bandos for Strength, Verac's for the balance of Prayer bonus + Defence, Proselyte for the pure prayer bonus

PLATEBODY Torva Platebody > Bandos Platebody = Guthans/Dharoks/Torags Platebody = Proselyte Plate- same as platelegs.

BOOTS Dragon Boots - Always. Don't consider anything else.

CAPES Fire Cape = Soul Wars cape - Fire Cape for the strength bonus, Soul Wars cape for the prayer bonus.

RINGS Imbued Berserker Ring > Ring of Vigour = Berserker Ring - no real substitute for the Imbued Berserker ring as strength bonus anywhere currently is more useful than attack bonus, and rings don't give prayer bonus. Ring of Vigour is a nice substitute for a non-imbued Berserker Ring

GLOVES Barrows RFD Gloves - no substitute ever EVER!

SHIELDS (non bossing) Dragon Defender no substitute ever EVER!

SHIELDS (bossing) Divine > Elysian > Spectral = DFS = Dragon Defender > BSS - get the Dragon defender and either the Spectral or the DFS depending on what bosses you do. A DDef isn't hard to get anyways.

WEAPONS (non bossing, not waterfiends) Chaotic Rapier > Abyssal Whip - Not really much else to say

WEAPONS (non bossing, waterfiends or anything else majorly weak to crush) Chaotic Maul > Saradomin Sword/Zamorakian Spear. - nothing to say

WEAPONS (bossing) Chaotic Rapier = Chaotic Longsword = Chaotic Maul = Zamorakian Spear - you should try to get all 4 of these melee weapons so you're set for any type of melee bossing.

WEAPONS (non healing special) Dragon Claws > Armadyl Godsword > Dragon dagger (p++) - Simple Heirachy

WEAPONS (healing special) Elite Enhanced Excalibur > Saradomin Godsword - Again pretty simple

RANGED:

HELMET Pernix Cowl > Armadyl Helmet = Verac's helmet - depending if you need tankage or not, both of these helmets are cheap anyways so it's all good. Pernix cowl [cabbage]s on them both though

BODY Pernix Body > Armadyl Chestplate > Karils Leathertop - pretty straightforward

LEGS Pernix Chaps > Armadyl Chainskirt > Karil's Skirt - again, pretty self explanatory

AMULET Amulet of Fury no substitute*

BOOTS Ranger Boots > Snakeskin boots - Ranged is too easy to pin down the best gear, mostly because our combat triangle is broken lol*

RING Imbued Archer's Ring > Archer's ring - SNORE

CAPE Ava's Alerter > Ava's Accumulator > Ava's Attractor - TOO SIMPLE

SHIELD Unholy Book = Any of the Melee Shields, follow the order there - If you need defence, go with the shield, if you don't, go with the full unholy book.

GLOVES Barrows RFD gloves - Does this need to even be said?

WEAPONS Dragon Darts = Hand Cannon = Rune Knives/Darts = Chaotic Crossbow = Karil's Crossbow - Each has their niche use, will change to the situation

AMMO Ruby Bolts (e) = Diamond Bolts (e) = Hand Cannon Shot = Rune Knives/Darts = Bolt Racks - See above.

MAGIC:

HELMET Virtus Mask > 3rd Age Mage Hat > Farseer Helmet > Ahrim's hood - pretty simple

AMULET Arcane Stream > Amulet of Fury - Arcane stream is the [cabbage].*

BODY Virtus Robetop > Ahrim's Robetop - Pretty basic

LEGS Virtus Robelegs > Ahrim's Robelegs - Again, pretty basic

RING Imbued Seers > Seers Ring - Again, pretty basic

CAPE Magic Arena Cape - No substitute, you don't need pray that much anywhere you mage anyways because who mages really lol.

BOOTS Infinity Boots > Mystic Boots - Lol Infnities are so cheap anyways.

GLOVES Barrows RFD Gloves - I just realised how boring our glove slot is...

SHIELD (when you don't need defence) Arcane Spirit Shield > Mage's Book > Unholy Book

SHIELD (when defence is needed) Divine Spirit Shield = Arcane Spirit Shield - A judgement call here, but considering that most magic isnt even used at bosses, who cares?

WEAPON Chaotic Staff = Staff of Light = Master Wand - Chaotic staff for Damage, Master wand for accuracy, Staff of light for a nice middle ground and rune savings.

MISCELLANEOUS GEAR EVERYONE MIGHT WANT:

Full Slaver Helmet - for all of your Slayer needs

Full Elite Void with all helmets and a deflector (it's just fun to have TBH)

Salve Amulet (e)

Fighter torso (for a cheap BCP replacement)

Bandos Godsword (idk, if you do a lot of corp???)

3a range coif - good for nex

EEKS - decent for nex

Onyx (I) - maybe for FFA corp/nex

*Whilst 3a mage amulets, ranging amulets and mercenary gloves have the highest attack bonus in their respective slots, they give away too much defence/prayer/magic damage bonuses to be considered viable options

That should cover the basics.

I accidentallied myself.
