Player Mod Mute

I got muted from what I believe was a P Mod and I have no idea why. I had only been playing about 10 minutes today before getting muted so it was easy to recall everything I said. I'm sure I didn't swear or say anything offensive.

 

The problem is I haven't received a message from Jagex. All I want to know is will Jagex send me a message? Will I be able to see what I said? I'm more frustrated with the inability to see what I did wrong than actually getting muted. I don't care much whether or not you think I deserved it, I just want to know if Jagex will send a message explaining it.

A player moderator mute immediately mutes you and sends a priority report to Jagex. Jagex will then look into it for further punishment (eg blackmarks).

 

You will not receive a message until then and you won't be able to appeal it.

Actually you can appeal it.

 

It's just that your appeal has a 100% rejection rate.

Killerred005 meant that you are unable to appeal it until action is taken by a Jegex moderator. Player moderator mutes are immediate, but temporary.

 

And I can also tell you that many reports, even those submitted by player moderators, are turned down. I wouldn't be too worried if you didn't say anything.

also not true. i cursed out a player that crashed me during slayer, turns out it was a pmod.

i appealed and was unmuted in less than 2 hours.

Well, that's just too bad. You deserved that mute. Honestly, crashing is a douche move, but you start off politely asking them to hop worlds or spots. :rolleyes:

No. Re read the rules, when you disable the swearing filter, it is allowed to curse.

There are new rules concerning the curse filter. Swearing is allowed when the filter is off, as long as you dont attack another induvidual.

Yes, but he said he cursed out the player, which means it was attacking that player, and is therefore mutable.

Essentially, you can swear as long as you don't do these 2 things;

1 - Evade the censor so that anyone with the filter on can see

2 - Swear at someone in a rude manner (this includes sayiing things like "**** you" etc)

 

As for why you were muted, we were not there so we can't tell, but I know that Jagex reads PMod reports very quickly so this matter should be solved quickly.

Jagex won't send you a message about it unless they take action on the report. At which time an offence will be added to your 'pillar'. If it turns out the Pmod was wrong (wrong person, taken out of context...there's a whole host of reasons people get reports wrong) nothing will be done in regards to your 'offence pillars' and Jagex will remove the mute (most likely not send you a message).

It's been about 41 hours since I've been muted and the mute has been lifted. I hadn't logged in for the past ~18 hours so I don't know how long I've been unmuted.

 

Jagex has not sent me any kind of message so I'm still clueless. Honestly I'm furious about that. They can't even send a simple apology? This is horrendous customer support and this just makes me want to quit this game. They don't even have a way to contact them besides their RSOF, and basically [bleep] their terrible forums. Whatever PMod did this deserves to lose their powers, but of course that isn't going to happen.

I was thinking about what I was saying and I believe the only thing I said when I logged in was "offering all herb/craft". This may sound crazy, but maybe some PMod muted me because they were trying to offer the same skill as me and they wanted me to shut up. :rolleyes:

Most player moderators are fine and enforce the rules of RuneScape. Just because someone mutes you or takes action, it doesn't mean they're abusing their powers.

So much new things, there has been a "big bang" update that has changed the whole game. Grinding at partyquests has become worse, grinding at different monsters has become better, stuff has become cheaper, easier to level = funnier. New classes that are overpowered = meh, good for someone.

It could have been an honest mistake. If you were offering a skill in a popular place the chat box moves so fast it's difficult to keep up with names.
