stirling105
I hear people say maul is best at tds, then others say cls, then others say rapier. So which is it?
SpikeStr1ke
I believe it's something to the extent of... Handcannon / Karil's Xbox = Maul Chaotic Crossbow / Rune Crossbow = Rapier > cls (using dragon defender)
JPMC Mate
I don't know why people say they are weak to Maul either. I believe CLS would be the best for Tds since it goes along with their changing prayers after a certain damage. Really? Cause as I recall it was you who was the one cussing me at base. Also, re-read what you just said: one 15 second delay (which is an exaggeration to begin with) ruins floor times? You are beyond ridiculous. It's not as much about being weak to the maul as it is when your using a 2h range weapon like KXB or HC you dont have to fumble with the 1h melee weapon and the defender although that isnt a super tough problem for pro switchers. When using a 1h range weapon however you can have the defender already equipped so it doesnt make much of a diffrence as you only have to click twice as opposed to clicking 3 times ( melee weapon + defender + prayer ). It may not seem like 1 click can change much but 1 extra click means 1 more turn for the TD to hit you if your not fast enough.
Quyneax
The fastest weapon you can do a perfect switch on is the best. The best ranged weapon is the handcannon and without a steel titan you should use piety + rigour. Which means that you will at least have to switch helmet + weapon + prayer, possibly adding shield if you use a one-handed weapon. That's the main reason to use a maul. bladekill133
Sorry to hijack, but a related question. I'm 78 FM, so I don't want to use handcannon. So what would be better DPS for range, Karil's xbow or chaotic with broads? What about Karil's compared to Chaotic with Diamond(e)s? I usually use maul but I also have rapier. Quyneax
Karil's crossbow would offer higher dps. GoldTatze
Maul is the highest DPS on TDS.

Sir_Squab
Maul is only good at TDs when switching isn't perfect, because with slow switching that kinda negates the speed advantage of a fast weapon, especially considering the best range weapons there are also two-handed. Depending on how you kill, you could have (worse case scenario) three items and two prayers to switch (Only if the TD switches attack styles too.) With perfect switching, Rapier is more DPS. I also know some people who use steel titan like maul, because that's apparently another click. Then again, I've also heard Jagex nerfed steel titans so they don't work... Squab unleashes Megiddo! Then again, I've also heard Jagex nerfed steel titans so they don't work... That's not true, they simply changed the mechanics. A few of us have figured out how to still use them so they are still a very viable option.
