They can be if they're coming in from multiple sides, but having them all on one side usually means you can just mine in their direction and have your pickaxe knock them back. It won't work on a blood moon, however >_>

Not gonna deny they're annoying as hell regardless, but if mining it out is being troublesome, get some dynamite and blow it up. It's not like Minecraft TNT, it doesn't destroy blocks, just turns them into items so you can collect them all. A couple well placed sticks will generally knock out enough meteorite to stop meteor heads from spawning (they require 50 ore to be placed in order to spawn, I believe).

Personally, I just mine it out since I'm stingy. Trying to do so when the thing is underwater without an obsidian skull... well, that's fun >.>

The 1.0.6 patch should be released today, which will increase overall difficulty of the game, balance classes and bring about a lot of new furniture for houses

Bit late to the party but I recently got this game. Been playing with a few people from the synch channel. It's fun to build with the other people but it's easy to get higher level stuff when you're playing with people who know what they're doing. And as for the bosses, well they're kind of pathetic, dying in a few seconds if all of us are attacking. Usually we wait for a blood moon and go to the corruption to fight like 3 or 4 at once, and I still haven't seen anyone die to them.

Bought this game some time ago. Definitely worth the $10!

TotalBiscuit and Jesse Cox are doing a let's play on this game. They make for a pretty comic duo. (

- Underground towns will now reduce, and eventually stop, enemy spawning.

- Star Cannon : Shoots faster.

- Sandgun : Sand shot from it does more damage, and it shoots faster.

- Goblins no longer drop rocket boots during an invasion. Instead they are sold by a new NPC that can be rescued underground after the player has defeated the Goblin Army.

- Boomerang type weapons are listed as melee.

- Added four new armor sets. Each set has different helms that give bonuses to melee, ranged, or magic, respectively.

- There are twenty-one new accessories.

- Fixed a problem with item syncing for newly connected players.

- Fixed a bug that caused graphical issues for player’s using automatic weapons.

- Added a limit to how often the server can broadcast NPC update packets. This prevents NPC’s from trying to update every cycle which would cause massive amounts of lag.

- Reduced the amount of data needed to transmit tiles down to 25%.

- The server now only broadcasts tile data to the players who need it.

- The server now withholds some NPC, player, and projectile packets based on player distance from them.

- Fixed a bug where water is consumed when a player cures Corruption with Purification Powder while standing in water.

- Above ground tunnels may now be created during world gen.

- Smashing Demon Altars with a special item will cause new ore to appear around the world.

- Defeating the hell boss will now increase the difficulty of the world. Harder monsters will spawn, and the Corruption’s rate of spread will be greatly increased.

- Defeating the hell boss will allow the Corruption to spread underground, over sand, stone, and Sunflowers, and through Jungles, destroying them if you let it!

- There is a new biome, The Hallow, that will be created when the hell boss is defeated.

- Removed obsolete lighting code, reducing both RAM usage and world save file sizes.

- Added several small features to world gen.

- Tweaked the way and amount of Underground Mushroom biome spawn.

- Demon Torches now appear in shelters generated in the underworld.

- Underground cabins may randomly spawn around chests.

- There are now three types of traps that are generated underground. Watch your step!

- Cacti no longer damage players.

Game Interface

- Items being held by the mouse will now be used by left clicking. This allows the player to place objects without putting them on the hotbar. Right clicking will now drop the item.

- Placing objects on grass will now destroy the grass.

- The crafting menu now scales to fit the size of the screen.

- When the inventory is open, the number of the selected item in the hotbar will appear in green.

- Fixed a bug that swapped the lighting of players pants and head armor.

- Fixed a problem that would cause water to settle in strange positions.

- Fixed a problem that caused objects with transparency to appear darker than they should.

WOOHOO! Although it is a bit laggy/buggy, so for it looks promising

The new, harder bosses look amazing, and the Wall of Flesh boss looks badass, and has a pretty funny way of summoning it as well (using the guide voodoo doll). Rocket boots and an Obsidian skull will be a must for fighting it.

Found 2 crystal hearts and 2 gold chests on the same screen. I was so excited I forgot to take a screenshot. I found another heart crystal and another 2 gold chests not very far from there. I got about 8 gold for maybe 20 minutes of exploring. Not bad for a complete newbie, if I do say so myself.

Bit late to really comment on the 1.1 update (although I will say playing through hardmode was extremely fun), but I did want to comment on the 1.1.1 Holiday update fast.

And before I say anything, link to the patch notes: http://www.terrariaonline.com/threads/terraria-1-1-1-christmas-update.70447/

Obviously, it was less of a content patch and more of a bugfix patch (although there's still some really nice Christmas themed stuff to play around with). The lag seems to be reduced by a bit - while I can't play in a maximised window on color lighting staying at 60FPS, I can at least stay on trippy lighting and have the quality of that up near 100% most of the time and maintain the usual 60FPS. A lot of the other fixes don't really apply to me (except them fixing wyverns, thank GOD for that -.-).

(Just a warning, spoilers ahead - although I doubt anyone reading this topic can be spoiled anyway)

The content part of the update, though... as long as you're updated to 1.1.1 and it's between now and the 31st (so I've heard, it lasts until the end of the 'holiday season'), all mobs can drop presents (even on old worlds, I got a number on my current hardmode world that was generated in 1.1). They can be obtained and opened regardless of if hardmode is enabled or not, but if hardmode isn't active yet, you can only get the candy cane blocks from them. You have to be in hardmode to get the snow globe from a present in order to summon the Frost Legion.

Snow globes are basically the Goblin Battle Standard for hardmode. Use it, causes a similar message to a goblin invasion (except it's the Frost Legion) to appear. It takes a minute or two to arrive, however.

Just a few notes about the mobs - they function as hardmode equivalents to the goblin army, so expect a beating if you get within range of their attacks. Mister Stabby I never had any issues with, since he has to get extremely close to do damage. Snowman Gangsta is the irritating one - it has a tommy gun, so expect these things to be shooting at you constantly. They seem to have a range similar to the gastropod, but they can't aim up, so you'll be safe hanging up above where they can jump and shoot across at you. Snow Balla I don't think does any damage with his projectiles correction, they do 35 damage with the snowball attack, and they can clog up the terrain fairly fast (making it easier for the others to gang up on you), so be cautious of that.

Overall, easy if you're cautious about maneuvering around them, but extremely dangerous if you get down too close to them - they all do 55 with melee if they ram into you, but thankfully the tommy gun and snowballs do a bit less.

I note that they also drop presents, so don't be surprised if you end up with more snow globes than you started with. I had one after opening about 40 presents with my girlfriend on our server, we used that and ended up with two more snow globes afterwards. Saving them for our new world so we can get some snow easily there + get the Santa Claus NPC to move in on that world (he sells the Santa vanity outfit as well as Christmas lights). And yes, you can create artificial snow biomes fairly easily with snow blocks - very low number it seems, considering the Snow Balla's projectiles were enough to cause some very faint snowing effects during the Legion fight.
