richpoepaap
There is a topic about this, the search button is still and always will be your friend =)
All_Bogs
First of all, it's not my friend, if I search for "Age Limit", I could care less about a topic named "Level 71 looking for clan". Second, the other topic I found is kinda locked, so it's hard to continue discussion there. And as for the topic itself, I don't know what they're planning to achieve with this, but hopefully it has something to do with making the chatfilter not quite as strict. jimsippo
How old do you have to be? (No before anyone makes a smarmy comment, I'm not creating a new account just to have a look, I'm not THAT curious)
sanday79
Isn't it 13 or something around there? I dunno, I'm just guessing. But what use does that do. It won't stop even a fraction of 1 percent of ppl who sign up underage. They can lie, just the same as there are 10 year olds on Myspace and everything else. Again, unless Jagex requires you to submit ur SS number or something very private like that (which they won't cuz it's prolly not legal), they'll never beat the young'ns. jimsippo
I suppose it's to cover them on from a legal point of view. Now the content can be 13+. I don't really know what i'm on about really but it probably makes sense.

Marco
Wow, that's crazy... If you're under 13 now you should not be playing, doesn't affect me as I'm 16 but the amount of people I see in this game that behave like 12 year olds.. I hope Jagex actually do release their grip on censorship now, are they calling the limit at 13 to match the english Film Certificate Ratings which are at 12a (adult accompaniment if under 13)? Bubsa
i couldnt find any topic discussing the age limit either. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=378809 Discuss. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
nuugz
I hate when people complain about searching.. when I search for something i find about half the topics qualify for it. Most people really don't feel like going through 30 pages to find the topic, it's much easier to post :\.

taquar
im 16 and age doesnt affect me either. no offense to those under 13 but you should be concentrating more on other things and not using this as much. ive seen a 9 yr-old playing this game and i nearly fell out of my chair. but they never will beat the young ones Finally retired from RS. It's been a good 4 or 5 years.
Me_Hate_Libs
There actually isn't an age limit there. There's an age "requirement." This website and its contents are copyright © 1999 - 2010 Jagex Ltd.
sanday79
I suppose it's to cover them on from a legal point of view. Now the content can be 13+. I don't really know what i'm on about really but it probably makes sense. Please explain how you think they're making the content more mature. They've blocked out approximately 3% of the English language so far, and there's not even blood or anything when you fight. I don't see them integrating anything slightly more mature, probably because they know their little age box is completely ineffectual at stopping little kids from playing. jimsippo
I don't really know the reason why they've done it. I can only hazard a guess that it's to do with some law or other. Plus I don't think the young 'uns are as likely to be paying members.
Mirror
Isnt this kinda old? When I made my account, (in 2004) I noticed that thing there. It said the same thing with the 13 thing. And they wont be able to stop people who are not old enough to play. A reflection is just a distorted reality held by glass and your mind.

7up407
The reason i was told their making an age limit-requirement is because those are a lot of the ones who just make accounts that curse and scam, now i know its kinda hard to belive that young ones would even think of doing that but they are smarter than we think. :? Junkieman
Its some legal precdent in effect already I'd say. Didnt you have to say whether you were under 13 or over 13 to join these forums? ALOT of forums sites require you to be over 13, and if under 13 to have parental consent. I think its something to do with data protection act possibly, as i know of other things which ask if you're over 13 or under 13. Even if under 13s lie to sign up, it stops jagex from being responsible legally in part because the 13 year old has been explicitly told they must be over the age of 13 to sign up, and disallowed to otherwise without parental consent probably. This way, they CAN blame the kid for lying. Go look at some porn sites, they all state you must be over the legal age to view them to cover their own backs. (note:im not encouraging people to look at porn, that would be immoral :P, im fairly sure alot of people will know what i meant when i mentioned that). stealthman8
not that much people will listen to the age limit it is still good because there will be less 10 year old noobs walking around so its kind of a relief 75/80 Hitpoints | 81/85 Strength | 1/1 Pray | 1/1 Defense [Make Me Rich!] | [Brutal Ownage]
aj926
they should kill the censor, that would stop the underage people from accessing the game. plus it would be a relief to write a sentence without half of it bieng stars.
evildestruction
mmm... seen a tread in official forums about it, actually multiply treads. they did it probaly to save their selfes, or there would be lawyers kicking their money out of em, jagex loves money, so you know what they would choose, thank god im 15 years old, and my sis about 14, maybe this would decrease the amount of bad people, very young people dont know the rules yet, many young people probaly dont even bother to read them(to be honest, also not me when i started). Known in-game as Mister evil9(lvl 93)(P2P).Modding gta2(making maps, scripts, editing it).On world 54 mostly.Made a nice GTA2 site!A little in-active...
