May 20, 201115 yr I have read the guide about Keying in the General Guides, but I'm still not sure how I should key. I always end up doing 20-25 min dungeons for c6 meds, which isn't very good. I heard that c6 meds solo were the best way to practice keying, but I always seem to have to walk long distances to get to doors. I try to strategically place GGS and GS's, but I always seem to mess up. I can't tell when to place down a GGS or GS so it makes dungeons faster? Anyone got tips on how to improve and how to develop memory of door locations, which herbs make what potions, etc? If you do, please snare. I would greatly appreciate it. Really? Cause as I recall it was you who was the one cussing me at base. Also, re-read what you just said: one 15 second delay (which is an exaggeration to begin with) ruins floor times? You are beyond ridiculous.
May 20, 201115 yr The main problem is that you are clearing every monster when you are doing solo meds. You should only kill monsters in gds. On top of that gates should be placed at key doors or when there is a branch off when doing solo meds.

Branch off meaning more than one door in the room or three only? Really? Cause as I recall it was you who was the one cussing me at base. May 20, 201115 yr Try to place the ggs at "hubs" if that go off in more than one direction, also part of the problem is you only have 2 gates when soloing, even though meds arent that big you still have to be smart about your options when gating.Anything near the ht can probably be left ungated, expect near the very start of a dungeon As for pots, write it all out in your notes. I have a nice little dg setup in my ingame notes that I copied from a post on the dgs thread, and it helps loads. As for what level pot to make when (weak/reg/strong) just go by intuition, if you have an abundance of a certain herb dont be afraid to use it if itl speed up the making of the pot.also 94+strong pot = 105, which is the highest a skill req can be Oh, and dont be afraid of death, use your prayer as much as you can (even more important solo) inb4someone corrects me on some major mistake D: and heres my notes section: top one is the order for vines/flower room Blog of DG, Bossing (mostly Glacors) and stuff - Runetrack Play Safe! - Got useful information for the tip.it website? May 20, 201115 yr Author ^ Thank you. I usually only die in a dung for prayer if I don't have an altar anywhere in my dung or if I am in severe need of hp and close to death with no food left. May 20, 201115 yr Especially in solo meds I find I have to die occasionally for pray, theres no point wasting the time farming buckthorns and its not like you'll ever get the coin drops for an altar :( Another little thing, if you're going to go through a room that'll unhood you when keying and you can afford to tank the hits/pray against the majority of it, take your hood off before going through, and re-equip afterSo many times I've been unhooded without realising and the been killed a few rooms later by accident and assuming I'm hooded Blog of DG, Bossing (mostly Glacors) and stuff - Runetrack Play Safe! - Got useful information for the tip.it website? May 21, 201115 yr Work on doing solo c6 meds in under 20 minutes. Shouldn't be too hard with a bit of practice, and most bosses are pretty easy even with only a bit of pray.
May 21, 201115 yr Author ^ I am trying to do that, but most last 20-25 min atm. Really? Cause as I recall it was you who was the one cussing me at base. Also, re-read what you just said: one 15 second delay (which is an exaggeration to begin with) ruins floor times? You are beyond ridiculous.
May 21, 201115 yr You should also practice in w148. Practice giving orders, pratice moving/dragging the ggs, and practice working with your teammates.
May 21, 201115 yr Author Would world 148 accept someone with my dungeoneering lvl? Really? Cause as I recall it was you who was the one cussing me at base. Also, re-read what you just said: one 15 second delay (which is an exaggeration to begin with) ruins floor times? You are beyond ridiculous.
May 21, 201115 yr probably not, most of them dont accept anyone over 80/90 dungeoneering. fyi, ladies dig the talonsHot man of the Trickster Pirates.
May 21, 201115 yr Author There must have been a reason why All_Is_Great said to use w148. If not w148, what world can I practice keying without someone yelling at me to hurry up a dungeon. In other words, where should I go to practice keying with people accepting of new keyers practicing their skills? Really? Cause as I recall it was you who was the one cussing me at base. Also, re-read what you just said: one 15 second delay (which is an exaggeration to begin with) ruins floor times? You are beyond ridiculous.
May 21, 201115 yr dgs if you see me on, just ask in dgs and ill wingman a floor for you. fyi, ladies dig the talonsHot man of the Trickster Pirates.
May 21, 201115 yr Author So DGS doesn't mind new keyers learning to key even though most floors are 20-30 min larges in the cc? Really? May 21, 201115 yr most people in dgs don't mind new keyers. I myself don't mind as long as you keep practicing. fyi, ladies dig the talonsHot man of the Trickster Pirates.
May 21, 201115 yr Author I've been practicing in meds alot, but only once did I practice in larges. Reason being is Obtaurian said on TIF that Meds are great for practicing keying. Really? In other words, where should I go to practice keying with people accepting of new keyers practicing their skills? You're right, it might be hard to find semi-competent teams in w148. But you can still try, just don't get frustrated when they fish/skill before doing a gd. As long as you know what they should be doing, by the time you start practicing in DGS, the players in the party will do gds before the rest. But just in case, maybe have a friend with you so you can at least depend on him for a gate
May 21, 201115 yr Author Hmm, I'm not sure I have a friend who dungeoneers. I never thought DGS would be willing to lengthen their dungeons to help a beginner keyer practice. This is even better. :) Really? Cause as I recall it was you who was the one cussing me at base. May 21, 201115 yr If you can record yourself doing a medium floor and we'll see what you are doing wrong.
May 21, 201115 yr Author I can do that with Hypercam. Really? Cause as I recall it was you who was the one cussing me at base. Also, re-read what you just said: one 15 second delay (which is an exaggeration to begin with) ruins floor times? You are beyond ridiculous.
May 21, 201115 yr I agree with All_Is_Great about 148 - it would be a great "next step" for you, so to speak. It'll also be sufficiently frustrating enough that you'll gain level 99 Patience before you're done. :P But yeah, even though you haven't optimized your solo med times, you're fast enough to where (edit: english how do i do that) you need to start learning to control a full team on a large floor. 148 teams will take you at your level, and it'll teach you to deal with and react to a lot of crazy situations that you won't find in DGS, which I think is a good thing. A note about learning to key in DGS: as long as you let the team know that you're practicing keying, you'll have no problem. In fact, we highly encourage (read: force) all DGSers to at least try keying at some point, as it's really a vital skill regardless of your preferred role in dungeoneering. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.
May 21, 201115 yr Author I am so excited to learn to key. I've always wanted to complete a floor faster than those in w117 and at the same pace as DGS, but wasn't sure whether a group of people would allow a beginner to practice keying, even though DGS appealed to me. However, every time I want to dung with DGS, no one really offers the floors I am doing, so keying will give me the opportunity to expand my knowledge of how to properly use GS and GGS, and allow me to actually get a dungeon with DGS. Really? Cause as I recall it was you who was the one cussing me at base. Also, re-read what you just said: one 15 second delay (which is an exaggeration to begin with) ruins floor times? May 21, 201115 yr What would be a good time to shoot for on solo c6 meds? Just wondering, because I don't recall ever doing a solo med over 20 minutes, I think most of mine were usually 14-18 minutes. 99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving. Jagex'd out of my untrimmed hp cape on 6/14/2011.
