[hide]My tv stand is fitting with the height being 24.5" exactly. The tv I'm looking at is 23" with the stand which is 1.5" from the top of the tv to the roof of the tv stand.

Will 1.5" be enough room for ventilation space for the tv I'm looking at? I'm not exactly sure where the vents are located on these things. I'm pretty sure I've never seen any tv with the vents at the very top though.

 

Unless anyone knows an even better/smaller sized tv that I can buy somewhere, or even a 36" tv if that even exists.[/hide]

I've never even been to the website in my life until just right now. They have a very similar tv to the one I was looking for but I'm not sure if it's safe to buy from Amazon. Here's the link to the tv.

 

I don't understand that it says 'New'. If it's new, how did they get it? Did some random guy buy the tv from a store somewhere and then decide he didn't want it after all, then sell it to amazon? Or did amazon buy the tv and can't get rid of it so they sell it cheaper? I have no idea how the website/company works so some information would be nice. I don't trust buying used things... especially expensive things like this.

I have 3 TV's similar to this in my house, one is a Panasonic very close to the one you linked. On all of them the fans/vents are on the rear panel (back). 2 of them are in entertainment units with pretty tight fits (not a lot of room around them in the stand/cabinet) and operate fine. One is on like 24/7 and never seems to get warm or overheat. So I think you should be fine.

This should go in tech & computers, but the TV should be fine - they really don't get terribly hot in most cases. So long you don't live in an area where the outside temperature regularly tops 100 degrees there should be no problems.

We fit a 32" tv in a spot 32.5", and it was fine. There was little room and there were only slight holes in the back of the stand. You'll be fine.

Yes, Amazon is quite safe. It's new because they buy it off the manufacturer and sell it as a retail. Think of it like how Best Buy sells new things but they don't make nothing.

I think that some stores sell through Amazon if they have stuff they can't get rid of.

Buying from online retailers is entirely based on YOUR CONFIDENCE. That means you're responsible for anything that goes wrong between you

and the other party you were dealing with. If you take action against someone online, you can technically file a lawsuit or just report it. But

filing a lawsuit over failing to receive a 20 dollar item you bought (inexpensive I know), it might cost you more in the long run. Which is why

for some, buying or selling online is discouraged.

 

As for me, I've been using ebay to buy and sell for 3 years and had no problems with it. Although one time, I bought a pair of cheap earphones

for 99 cents and as I got it, the left bud came off and it didn't work. But like they say, you get what you pay for. lol. The best

thing you can do to make sure the transactions go right is to look at feedbacks and look at how long they've been on the website.

I always make sure the buyer or seller contacts me before the transaction so I know who I am dealing with.

 

If you're looking to buy more expensive goods like cars or property, use Craigslist. You can still use ebay although you might not be getting

good deals and plus the fact that 99% of them are dealers waiting to rip you off.

Buying direct from amazon is buying it new. I order from them almost biweekly (mostly toys, dvd's and video games). I choose Amazon for DVD's, Video Games, etc over a retailer usually. I've learned to love them.
