Gaming mice

I have the Razer Imperator and I love it (it's a standard 7-button ergonomic gaming mouse). It's actually not on that list but it's still a Razer mouse. 5600 dpi is great, and while I used to think ergonomics was really just a marketing thing it feels so much better than a normal mouse.

My friend has a Naga and it's pretty awesome. Although a lot of the macro capability is outside of Runescape rules there's simple stuff you can do like binding f-keys to the buttons. And it's a lot of fun to use in other games

I have the Logitech M570 wireless trackball (it's actually my second one - I had a corded one for years). It's an excellent multi-purpose mouse, but doesn't have the extra macro buttons the Naga does. For general browsing and games like RuneScape it's great though; smooth tracking and the wireless receiver is very low-profile. Perfect for laptops.

THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P.

So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...

I've had a Razer Diamondback for about 4 or 5 years and I've loved it since I got it. It's just a regular 7 button gaming mouse but it's really nice.

The only problem I've had with it is that about a month ago it started double clicking sometimes when I click once. Pretty irritating when playing rs.

Intellimouse 1.1/3.0 or Wheel Mouse Optical.

Gaming mice are absolute trash. Over the years I've owned an MX500, MX518, Diamondback, Deathadder V2, G5 and a Kinzu, and I've sold all of them except the Deathadder V2, which is still garbage compared to the IME and WMO. A few of them have really good sensors but that means nothing if it weighs more than a brick/poor build quality/poor cable/poor grip, which a lot of the ones I listed suffer from. I've tried a bunch of them but keep coming back to the Wheel Mouse Optical. They cost like 10 bux, asymmetrical and lightweight. If you want side buttons, get an Intellimouse Explorer.

Also, high DPI = better is BS. Get a good pad instead of an overpriced mouse.

It's honestly not. It's really mostly matter of preference. I like being able to move my mouse across the screen and only moving my hand a few centimeters. Turning up the cursor speed gets you nowhere close to the sensitivity and response a high dpi mouse can give you.

I love my MX518. I've actually bought a second one, my first one was fine just pretty dirty after 4 years, and I just keep it as an extra.

I'll also second the don't go wireless for gaming statement, they may have improved in the past few years but I've never been happy with any I used.

Yeah, I was more saying that either isn't inherently "better" as such - super high DPI is now a selling point and it really depends on what you want to do. I mean, if you play RTS you'll find it easier, but if it jitters it's annoying (which is a problem with high DPI lasers on cloth so you should use your desk/get a hard mousepad).

The biggest problem I have with the MX518 is the weight and shape. The sensor in the new model is really good but man, feels like a brick and I can't claw grip it easily.

Anyways:

Low DPI, comfy grip, low price and good sensor: Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical or Intellimouse Explorer. High DPI, asymmetrical, mid-priced and good sensor if you update the firmware: Razer Deathadder 3.5g. That's pretty much my take on gaming mice.

I bought a Logitech G500 a couple of months ago. I love the hyper scroll wheel and that's why I didn't return it. It's almost comfy but not quite. I can't get the tracking right, feels jittery. angry.gif People have blamed this on the Darkfield Laser Tracking™ . I do have an old computer so could be that.

I am waiting for somebody to make a great trackball with extra buttons. [Pleeeeeeeeeze]

I've had the CM Storm for a couple years (69.99 on the list) and it's just about the best mouse I've ever used. The driver software is pretty fun to play around with, and it has lights you can change the colours of, though the other mice might have that too. Mice are fairly subjective, so make sure you can try out the mouse before you buy it or return it easily if you don't like it.

Sig by me, in MS paint, but I'm still working on it.

Suggestions appreciated

I've got a Razer Deathadder v2. It's what I use and have for quite a while. It's not on that list but it's a very solid mouse, feels good to use.

Would also recommend the intellimouse 3.0.

I have a Razer Lachesis and it's bittersweet. The mouse is awesome and everything, but it feels weird holding it. I've tried various styles of holding mice and they all didn't feel normal on the Lachesis. Plus the middle mouse button has been working whenever it wants to of late so (annoying to throw grenades in FPSes and closing tabs/scrolling) I'm not sure if I still want to go with Razer when I replace my mouse.
