January 8, 200620 yr How do you guys feel about autoing. Autoing being setting your character to "auto-retaliate" and leaveing them somewhere where they will be attacked. Basically you fight and gain xp, but dont play the game. How do you feel about this tactic?
January 8, 200620 yr It's illegal and no one should do it, since it makes the game less fun and unfair.
January 8, 200620 yr I can quite annoyed by it,they do nothing and get a higher lvl than us working hard to get to those levels.
January 8, 200620 yr Again: AFK training is not illegal, Andrew has said it himself, its not illegal but not adviced to do since its a great risk, real autoing with programs is illegal though. R.I.P. Shiva and Steve
January 8, 200620 yr Author Again: AFK training is not illegal, Andrew has said it himself, its not illegal but not adviced to do since its a great risk, real autoing with programs is illegal though.I'm implying without a program.

I did imply that without program (AFK, away from keyboard) is not illegal... R.I.P. Shiva and Steve
January 8, 200620 yr Don't you logout? Because i trieed not to log out with putting some... eerrm, how do you guys say it... some sticky paper. Plakband in dutch... wel anyway, i tried to do a sticker on my -> arrow so i could cook an egg and not logout. But it didnt work...
January 8, 200620 yr It's illegal and no one should do it, since it makes the game less fun and unfair. Did you actually read the post? I have nothing against AFKing, I do it myself in fact when I have schoolwork to be doing. If you do it properly, it is no risk at all. I AFK at the hobgoblin mines, lvl 32 wilderness, but I only take a rune scimmy, rune plate and amulet of strength, so, as you can see, it is not at all risky. Title is a bit misleading  99/99 Fletching, 99/99 Cooking, 96/99 Strength
January 8, 200620 yr hey, change ur name to AFK is ur gonna start his post, autoing is different from afk, and most ppl are going to take it macroing. also this kind of thing has been posted before..
January 8, 200620 yr Don't you logout? Because i trieed not to log out with putting some... eerrm, how do you guys say it... some sticky paper. Plakband in dutch... wel anyway, i tried to do a sticker on my -> arrow so i could cook an egg and not logout. But it didnt work...http://www.freetranslation.com works like a charm for us dutchies in situations like this  . anyway, what you try'd WAS illegal: you may not disrupt our systems designed to logout inactive users automatically (or summin like that) anyway, i hate cheaters of all shapes and sizes, IMO AFK'ers are cheaters and should be banned, i dont care what andrew says.
January 8, 200620 yr Lol, so Andrew, who writes the rules and actually defines what is cheating on the game is wrong is he!? If he says it isnt cheaing, its his game, and so it isnt cheating 8) If you can get away with it, and its legal, why not do it? Its like people saying that using prayer in the wilderness is cheating. Its not, it was built in the game, and it is allowed. Therefore use it. That applies to AFK as well. 99/99 Fletching, 99/99 Cooking, 96/99 Strength
January 8, 200620 yr Again: AFK training is not illegal, Andrew has said it himself, its not illegal but not adviced to do since its a great risk, real autoing with programs is illegal though.I'm implying without a program. Completely legal.
January 8, 200620 yr But dont monsters stop attacking you after youve been there 15 min or something? So its not even all that useful unless you're still sitting there, even if you're not paying attention. So, its not that big a deal, unlike macroing which can get all sorts of skills up, and is a completely unfair advantage.
January 8, 200620 yr afking as more people might know it as is not allowed You also may not circumvent any of our mechanisms designed to log out inactive users automatically. Which is exactly what you are doing when you go afk training.
January 8, 200620 yr Have you ever tried of making A teetertoter and puting bullbareons on it so it moves back and force after you push it down once it stops you from logging out if you have it pressed on keyboard good for fishing or mining essence
January 8, 200620 yr it is legal as long as you dont take a measure that keeps your account from logging out. it will only work for 15 minutes because npc's become non aggressive after about 15 minutes so why not just play the game and have fun like its intended Dragon Drops: 5 medium helmet, 3 left shield halfObby: Maul 1, Cape 1, Shield 1
January 8, 200620 yr [[Edited]] Oh, AFK Training.. Sorry, didn't read the whole thread. I do AFK training (kinda), except it's more like AFG (away from game) because I will chat on instant messengers while my charater is fighting, chopping, mining, etc because it gets rather boring just watching them do the same motions over and over. The sound of combat tends to bring my attention back to the game though. [[On the program side of autoing, here's my input]] Auto'ing (with a program) is cheating, it's giving one player an unfair advantage over everyone else playing. So what if they don't have enough time to play runescape properly? Doesn't mean they should run an auto'er all day while they are at school so they can come home and rub their greedy little hands together as they sell thousands of yews without having to work for any of it. I hate them. This is a very sensitive subject for me. :|
January 9, 200620 yr afking as more people might know it as is not allowed You also may not circumvent any of our mechanisms designed to log out inactive users automatically. Which is exactly what you are doing when you go afk training. Forget I ever said anything  But, if it is built into the game, it is not really circumventing the logout procedure. If it were not meant to be used, then Jagex are intelligent enough to find a way to create the desired effect of aggressive monsters, without having people AFKing. And if Andrew said it is legal, as someone has said here, then I would take that as gospel to be honest. After all, he makes the rules. 99/99 Fletching, 99/99 Cooking, 96/99 Strength
January 9, 200620 yr And if Andrew said it is legal, as someone has said here, then I would take that as gospel to be honest. After all, he makes the rules. I would love to know where Andrew actually said this. It is of course obvious that it's one of those things that Jagex never really enforce, but tell people not to do.

Basically you fight and gain xp, but dont play the game. How do you feel about this tactic? usually when someone says autoing he means autoing with a program which does it automaticly for you,but AFK (Away From Keyboard) is NOT illegal IF you are physically there
January 9, 200620 yr it can come in quite handy when you have to do homework so you can sit in front of your PC while doing homework. Retired 2146 overall - 136 combat - 6 skillcapes Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.

I am just quoting someone earlier in this post. I shall have a root around the official forums and the updates, and let you know if I find anything. 99/99 Fletching, 99/99 Cooking, 96/99 Strength
January 9, 200620 yr but AFK (Away From Keyboard) is NOT illegal IF you are physically there ok you just contradicted yourself there. If you are physically there then you're not afk...
January 9, 200620 yr If you take the term literally, yes, he is contradicting himself. However, I tend to AFK when I am at my desk, but am doing other things, i.e. schoolwork. Therefore, you are AFK in the fact that you are not constantly clicking to prevent logging out, but not in the sense that you are actually away from your computer. 99/99 Fletching, 99/99 Cooking, 96/99 Strength
