tigershelby2
So, im looking to train my mining and eventually my smithing. I havent touched these skills in forever, and I was wondering where the best place would be to mine and bank coal. Last time i did this was in F2p and in the mining guild, so ya... Barrows: Verac- Helm, Brassard x 2,Torag- Body, HammersKaril- CrossbowGuthan- BodyAhrim- Hood, Staff
ilovecuttingyews
I don't know, as I haven't been P2P since free trade, but I would assume that the mining guild there isn't too full so you could do it there. Also, another good place would be the Dwarven Mines resource dungeon. There's ~10ish coal rocks and a deposit box. Another place that comes to mind would be the coal carts by Seers. As I've said, I'm not P2P so I don't know how full they are, but those are the only places that come to mind. Or, as an alternate option you could mine iron ore in the Dwarven Mines and then bank in the resource dungeon which should be more exp/h as well as more gp/h than coal. Another option would be to power mine. Then once you get 77 you can mine concentrated coal in the living rock caverns.
tigershelby2
Sounds good to me, though like i said, im mining to work on the smithing in the future, not for the profit. Also, if there is a deposit box close, is it worth it to use urns? lSay get 20ish urns and just bank a little more? AxiSyn
If you've done the seers tasks then coal trucks is gonna be the best bet till u can do lrc. i tend to use a bob and no urns, and have a cammy tele in your inv for a quick way back once the trucks and your inv are full. They are more or less deserted, not sure if the trucks are too complicated for bots or what O_o Quest cape first Achieved 29JAN2009, Re-Achieved 15SEP2011, Cook cape Achieved 12APR2009 (Easter 2009)Strength Cape Achieved 20NOV2010Now offering assists for 97 Farming, 97 Smithing, and 97 Herblore, PM me in-game!!!Proud U.S. Navy Sailor
Oathkeeper
though like i said, i'm mining to work on the smithing in the future, not for the profit.Unless this comment was aimed at the idea of dropping the ores for power mining, Banking the ores (iron) and buying others (coal) is the same idea as mining the coal and banking it.You lose the option of selling the coal by using it yourself, so it may be easier on the mind (unless you prefer mining one ore over the other) to mine the iron, sell it on the grand exchange and then buy back the coal that you would have mined in the time taken to get the iron. I don't know because I haven't tested it but I would personally not bother.

ilovecuttingyews
Note: That my last post was assuming that you're using a deposit box and not an actual bank. If you are say, mining in the mining guild, it is probably worth while to use 1 or 2 urns per inv since you'll be able to restock when you bank your coal. Don't know why I didn't think of that.... If you're in the mining guild you'll most likely be banking at Fally East bank so you can withdraw urns every trip, but if you're at the resource dungeon or the coal trucks the space taken up by the urns is not worth the extra time it takes to deposit every few owes mined. Merre
If I were you I'd just mine iron ores at dwarf mine and bank em in the deposit box in the resource dung. You'll get alot of iron at a good pace and once you have a large amount you can sell a part of it to buy coal ores. You'll get alot more XP doing this and in the end you can still smelt/smith. Although tbh I would sell all the iron ores of and just buy gold ores to raise smithing (goldsmithing gauntlets). Since your crafting is low too, you can then make gold bracelets and alch or sell those again to regain cash :) 2016 goals: all skills +30mil xp - Completed this goal 11th December 2016 2017 goals: get at least 3 more master capes (start xp: invention done@21st Jan, mining done@2nd April & ranged 76/104mil done@June 20th) & all skills +40mil xp (done 24th August)

With 10 urns (the max you can have full at any one time) in my inv it really doesn't slow things down. It takes about 30 minutes to fill them, and then I just send them away and run to the bank for more. The 3250xp 10 urns give more than makes up for the time to go to the bank. JacTise69
Urns up your exp/hr by almost 20% so unless you're taking 10+ minutes to bank (at which point you have other issues) they are worth using.
