One Handed Melee Strength Training Weapon

Featured Replies

Is there a weapon that is better for training strength than the Dragon Scimitar? I feel like at my level I should really be using something besides a Dragon Scim.. so I want a better weapon to carry around... if at all possible.

I want it to be 1 handed however, because I want to equip a shield at the same time. Any suggestions?

Rapier is best and Korasi is good too.

Whips are good too.

Rapiers pretty much the best all around weapon - add a ddef iwth it and it's pretty hard to beat.

You're at lvl 79 dg - so it's really not that far off.

How did you get to 99 atk/96 str/90 def with only a dragon scimitar? :o

I used a whip before, used Sara sword, god swords, etc but I just want strength xp now, and to wield a shield. don't want any more attack xp given 99, So the weapon I'm looking for has to have an aggressive combat style

Your only choice is Chaotic Rapier, if you drop the shield and use a saradomin sword that would be on par with whip except it trains strength.

If you are using a shield then it doesn't really matter. You should be using a defender.

Rapier > korsais > dragon scimitar

Also whip on controlled is good.

It's a lot easier then that for an idiot to sound smart on the internet.

That's exactly what you're doing right now... just saying.

Listed by usefulness in my personal opinion:

Rapier or CLS are amazing, but if you had either you wouldn't be asking this question. (Rapier > CLS btw)

Saradomin Sword is the next best thing to rapier, why do you need a shield so badly anyway?

Korasi has slightly better stats than the scimitar, and a much better special.

Brackish blade is almost identical to scimmy but stab based instead of slash, useful for dragons, the only reason i ever wear a shield other than d defender :D

Whip on controlled still gets 1/3 strength xp... Certainly better than nothing.

Dragon longsword is... Well... It's pretty awful. Nevermind.

Nobody knows what this 'vine whip' is going to bring to the table. Perhaps it will add a strength training option, doubtful, but possible.

To be Honest, getting a rapier would be the best thing you could do (unless the "vine whip" will be more powerful than rapier). and at 79 dungeoneering it's not going to take that long. You'll need/want it sooner or later. Getting it now would just speed up maxing melee stats. But if you can't be bothered Korisi's sword is better than dragon scimitar.

Saradomin sword.

You shouldn't use a shield; there are no situations in general training where you need the defense of a shield.

Even so, the rapier is amazing for its stab bonus.

Assuming Jagex doesn't do a totally random change - the vine whip should probably be used on slash and it's also probably going to keep its accurate/controlled/defensive styles.

TL;DR - get a rapier even though the vine whip is coming out
