Hellhound Slayer Task

I just got a task of 171 or so hellhounds. Now, whenever I get a clue scroll (which is often, considering I'm using row), my first impulse is to teleport out and solve it, thus allowing for more clue scrolls overall. However, this makes the task take much longer than it should, slowing my slaying tremendously. Its not the most optimal behavior, but it is very tempting, in hopes that I might get a really rare reward.

So, I need advice. Grab a single clue, and hold onto it while finishing the task, try to do as many as possible, or something in between?

I wouldn't do clues as they are terrible money and give no exp.

However, seeing as you somehow enjoy them, it makes logical sense to teleport out as soon as you get one to allow for a higher amount of clues and thus more enjoyment.

If you cared about efficiency then you would just leave them on the ground.

Hold it while finishing the task. It's not worth the time to keep leaving the task to do clues. Even then clues aren't really worth it.

I used to be exactly like you. A lot of times I'd do hellhound tasks and abberant spectre tasks and end up doing 3-5 clues each task. It REALLY cuts into your slayer exp/hour. Slayer is slow enough as it is, and after doing over 400 clue scrolls with no real significant rewards (maybe two or three that were worth over 1M) I finally realised that it isn't worth it to do them all the time. Now that I just hold on to the clue until the end of the task, the slayer exp/hour is a lot better than before.

99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving.

Jagex'd out of my untrimmed hp cape on 6/14/2011.

If a monster also drops elite clues, you may want to juggle the clue (pick it up and drop it every minute or so) to get an elite clue drop.
