The do's and dont's guide of the word "noob".

Featured Replies

I am extremely concerned about how wildy the word "noob" is thrown around. So i have compiled this small list on when and when't to say noob.

do's

when they trade you for no reason and put items up and ask for money.

when they sit in the bank with some lame excuse for why they need money/items.

when they half kill.

(open for suggestions)

dont's

when they mine an ore out from under you.

when they ask for more money then something is worth.

when they are training on a monster that is to tough for them (at least they ain't beggin)!

if they are fighting something that you wanted to fight.

-jokingly like "aw ya lil newb" after helping a friend out or somthing

Don't

-insult

-cause your cool

-cause it's over used. that's why you shouldn't use it.

Yup pretty much...

Pier pressure?

I can just see you being threatened by a wharf or jetty because you're a teleporter. Yes, I can see a large wooden wharf uprooting itself from the shore, walking over to you and slapping you in the back of the head for teleporting.

how about... never, because it is an overused, archaic word that means nothing anymore. plus it just makes you sound like a 3rd grader. basically anyone who says it and takes it seriously clears all doubt from my mind that they are worthless

Archaic? Boy I feel old then... I remember when it was still "newbie" in the old text MUDs.

when you put up and offer and they say wait and go check price guides and make you pay the absolute highest price on the guide, no matter what it is or how many you are buying.

Do

when they scam or auto but its (kindof useless for the latter one)

Dont

When they are hungry and want a midnight snack.

When they are worshiping their god in combat to releave their sins

When they realise that they didnt pay their bills so they run to varrock bank befor the postoffice closes from the wildy.

When you dont like them giving you a phats highalcing price for a phat.

i hate the word altogether lol. But i gotta admit, it is used for the stupidest reasons. I was called a noob for having a strength level SLIGHTLY lower than someone 4 combat levels higher lol.

Do-when they steal a kill from you even when you ask them to stop.

This isn't that big of a deal exept at tzharrs, where people at lvl 110 with full barrows go around taking kills so they don't have to use food.

My doctor says that I have a malformed public-duty gland and a natural deficiency in moral fiber and that I am therefore excused from saving universes.

Agreed, if i use the food i want the reward!

newbie is still used in MUDs, don't worry :P

all i have to say about this is that you should all just use common sense when calling someone a noob, and never do it on an impulse* (the getting the ore before you, asking too much for item, etc). it also depends on what you consider being a noob/newbie/new player. someone fighting a monster too tough for them may or may not realize it, after all, they could just be hoping out of their mind for some rare drop. in fact, continuing along that path of reasoning that you can't assume anything about anyone, it's not fair to call anyone at all a newbie, even if it's accepted by the majority population. anyways..returning from abstract reasoning.

the last thing i have to say is that these antinoob topics are getting to be the most cliche in the world, PLEASE DEAR GOD STOP MAKING THEM.

i remember when that word got thrown around alot "newb" in 2002. sigh... long ago

my advice is too not even say "noob" if your going to say something to a new player atleast dignify them with the proper spelling newbie
