Strength Training:

Helm_Lardar

Recommended Posts

So: I want to fix my combat imbalance and improve my strength level so that I can hit stuff higher, and I also want to be able to get into masses at Bandos. What do I need? 70 Strength! Oh, and I'll be able to have all my stats in the highscores too ^_^

Now, what I would really like are suggestions of two things: the location, and the weapon. And armour etc if that's necessary.

What have I tried and not liked? Armoured Zombies (too many bots), Yaks (too many bots), Experiments (too far away from each other/generally dull), Slayer (fun, but you often can't afford to use a str training weapon because you need guthans/whip/whatever).

I've done a whole bunch of quests. So that's good. Just thought it was worth saying.

I'm going to get 75 attack soon in case you require that for your reccomendation (e.g. d00d totally borrow a gs they r great!).

My budget is rather limited: probably not over 2M in a pinch, but if you can honestly say you have the best idea ever that requires 5M, I'll think about it.

I'm not an efficienado.

Crapier>Sara sword>korasi's sword>dscim=brackishblade for str training. Use whichever you have the reqs for and have the cash for.

Also go to zombie monkeys on ape atoll with a combat familiar. Wear prossy, salve (e), berserker ring, barrows gloves, fire cape, d boots, a ddefender (bandos obviously if you have it). Alternatively a better option is void/elite void+ deflector and barrows gloves with everything else applicable the same from the first set up.

Trolling by giving good advice since April 2011.

No, Slayer is the best choice out of all those you listed. This is because the Chaotic Rapier is only 80/81/82 DG and is free (DG is an easy skill anyways and gets fun at higher levels). Also, if you can't afford, there is always the D Scimmy + D Defender, which works just fine until you get an SS/Rapier.

Really? Cause as I recall it was you who was the one cussing me at base. Also, re-read what you just said: one 15 second delay (which is an exaggeration to begin with) ruins floor times? You are beyond ridiculous.

Slayer will not help him reach his goal of 70 str the fastest. He also does not have 80 attack for a rapier.

Never does he say he wishes to achieve 70 str in the fastest way possible.

Slayer is the obvious choice if you ever intend on leveling it. Guthans is not worth using in conjuction with slayer. Use Sara Sword (if you can afford it), or dragon scim.

Additonally, you need much higher stats to be effective at bandos. If you intend to max melees, dg is worth doing for the rapier.

Except he listed slayer under what he tried and and didn't like.

Except he listed slayer as fun, although he thought he couldn't train strength with it, which isn't true. Slayer is the best choice.

Thank you very much, and for the responses to other people highlighting what I've actually said in my post. Should I use a boosting prayer, or is that a waste? I have tried this once before using chivalry and it worked very well while training attack: however it did cost a good deal of prayer potions. I'll be getting a d defender soon.

Other people: I want 70 strength so I can go to fun Masses at Bandos...not so much to worry about getting loads of damage done, etc. It's just for fun.

What's this about how bad Guthans is for slaying generally? I don't have acess to a bunyip, and while I'm working on an EE I'm not there yet either. I find it hard to understand why I should really be just using food?

EDIT: and let's clarify the stance on slayer. What I actually think is that while entertaining on some tasks, on many you sacrifice an even moderately good xp rate for the sake of the task at hand, and some tasks are just hard work for me rather than something I can relax in (e.g. bloodvelds, which I end up guthans-ing and fluctuating hitpoints up and down on).

Guthans hits very very low (and you can't even use it on some tasks until superantifire). It's like healing exclusively with soul split on a rune scimitar while you could be using a whip, except that it's a gilded scimitar worth 500k prayer xp.

On any task you can't heal with a few monkfish, it's better to use protect prayers and proselyte. That includes bloodvelds, abberant spectres etc.

I'd recommend giving slayer another shot. It won't be the best xp/hour, or the best gp/hour, or the best charms/hour, but if you ever plan on maxing, you'll regret wasting all of your melee xp on nonslayer monsters. You shouldn't take a lot of damage on most tasks, but since you don't have any good methods of healing, just fill the empty spaces in your inventory with sharks or monkfish. You won't lose any attack turns if you learn how to eat losslessly, and you won't have to switch to a guthans spear and lose a bunch of dps.

Hint hint, do Legacy of Seergaze and Cannon Mutated Bloodvelds.
