Pigs genome project and genetic engineering

I wish they'd rather do this with spiders/ At least you know, when there's a huge laboratory explosion, we'd get spiderman rather than,

I'm talking about the pigman, George. I went into the wrong room

and there he was.

A pigman?

Yes, a pigman. Half pig, half man.

So are you saying genetic engineering as a whole is bad science?

The pigs obviously don't know or care, and they're not going to be doing this to humans because of the risk and ethics (at least I wouldn't think so...but who knows?). I think in most areas you can push things too far, but just because some company decides to do that doesn't make the whole field of this a bad science.

I'm not so sure I agree with you on the "The pigs obviously don't know or care." Just cause we can't understand the pigs, doesn't mean they don't know or care.

A person would feel left out, embarrased, isolated, and like a freak. I know I can't literally prove that a green pig doesn't feel those feelings, I think that can be assumed. Being green doesn't effect the pig, and I doubt they feel like outcasts or anything. But then again, nobody can know either way, and that's a whole new can of worms over if animals can consciously think or not.

And Apinagez, I agree with you. Society as a whole is heading in every direction to keeping people alive longer, and preventing even more deaths, curing diseases, etc. Eventually the world will be overpopulated, until almost inevitably the only sure-fire population control will occur. Some type of plague or widespread killing disease like the bubonic plague when Europe was overpopulated. At least we won't have to deal with anything like that in our lifetime.

I deeply posted what are the dangers in my opinion, on overusing genetic engineering and I got completely ignored :(

:D

No, we're just speechless.

I knew that :P

The bad side to science :(

Why do you say that?

Would you want green skin? Glowing in the dark like a freak?
I dont know, id love to have glowing skin. Could make myself known as a forest guide during the night!

Oh of course. That makes a lot of sense actually. Sorry about that, I thought they were just making glow in the dark pigs

I don't know about you, but I'd pay a few billion to have a glow in the dark ecosystem and see how it worked out :P
