JGHCeltic
Basically I'm wondering what's the fastest way to get a Deflector by playing the game legitimately, as I don't have anyone to boost with and don't have the slightest clue how to anyway. Best squad recruitment, formations and any useful tactics would be of help as well. Any help is appreciated. :) "Celtic jerseys are not for second best, they dont shrink to fit inferior players." - Jock Stein
ghjkl
Just pay someone to lose to you.You can probably find some people there willing to do that.
Snowpelt
I'm about a 2k rank in conquest, and its one of my favorite minigames in RS. I could give you details of how i play and formations/strategy's, but its really just a reflection of my playing stile. You could play just like me, and yet loose games that I wouldn't simply because my playing stile is based on me.My advice, try some things out and find what works for you. My rank dropped to almost 500 before I found a good setup and from there I worked my way back up. If your any good at strategy game (chess and the like) it should be fairly simple to get the hang of. If you suck at those types of games... Good luck lol.

Snowpelt
Just get all champions. Yes, that will go very well against a decent player :P Well not entirely true, iv seen some people that are rather good at using all champs and iv seen people (like me) that just don't use champs. Its all up to him though.
Gwasha
But as stated, pay a friend to lose to you. Hell I even saw people on RSOF advertising for it... Essentially you want a killer and your loser wants several scounts. Making sure the game lasts a certain number of moves, go to the scouts and kill them. Instant win with some gained rank. It's been a while since I did this, but iirc that's what I did.
Snowpelt
It may be the fastest, but its nowhere near as fun It really depends on if you like the game or not.
Jimmyw3000
if you're not a moron just learn the game. play around with setups and find out what suits you best. the default one sucks.
oliboli1992
Or if you want to save you money, you can find someone that could die for you to get the deflector, then in turn you die for them until they get the deflector, you just have to make sure you have the points to get the defelctor. [spoiler=Sig] I like to think of the Dark Bow like a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) - you get one shot and then you're screwed.
Quyneax
The default setup is pretty bad but I've seen people who only want to play default (which is understandable). As for good setups, I'd recommend at the very least one knight - enhanced with battle cry he can one-shot any unit that doesn't have a health buff. Of course you need Battle Cry with that. I also use a spare knight (total 275 pts). To increase your threat range you need Charge, it's very effective at keeping your enemy at bay or letting them use up command points on defensive commands (75 pts, 350 total). I like to use an archer to snipe any sub-400 health unit (which is anything but a champion), especially mages and other archers (100 pts, 450 total). With the remaining 550 pts you can buy two more commands and more units, what you get depends on your playstyle. I use halberdeers because they have range (immunity to retaliation, especially Vigilance, from scouts, soldiers, knights and champions). They also have 200 health which is perfect when combined with Shield Wall (50 pts, makes them immune to any damage beyond 100) and they deal very significant damage, with Battle Cry they deal enough to one-hit anything but a champion. I also have Vigilance to protect my archer and halberds from other ranged attackers and scouts with charge especially, though it also works great on a knight with Battle Cry (use Charge + Battle Cry, move in, kill champion, cast Vigilance, other champion attacks you and takes 500 damage :P). So in the end I have Charge, Battle Cry, Vigilance and Shield wall for 250 pts spend on commands. Unit-wise I have two knights (200 pts), an archer (100 pts) and six halberds (remaining 450 pts). Other than setups there's another very important thing in Conquest and that's counting squares and turns. You must always know which squares can be attacked by your opponent, taking into account that very nearly everyone will have Charge. If you see a command activated, write it down or memorize it, adding the cooldown counter as well. Every time you end your turn, reduce the counter for that command by one. When it hits zero the command is ready to be used again. You get 25 command points every turn but the first (so starting the game means you are behind in points) and you get points equal to the buy value of the units you kill. It's crucial that you know how many points your opponent has, because you can be sure they will not use, for example, Bombard if they have less than 200 points, or you can be sure they won't use Battle Cry and Winds of Fate in the same turn (a rather dangerous combination).
