28-Sep-2011 - Localised Clan Citadels

Since my original post was removed for "being irritating", I will rephrase.

I find this to be a POINTLESS update. I do NOT like it.

Gimme a new quest instead of a citadel update.

Consider it your own personal "no-update week" then. We all arent going to like everything from a gaming company thats trying to cater to everyone. They are only human beings so they can't do everything perfect either... Except I think mod Chris...

This I am well aware of. If I were to expect them to be perfect, I'd be on the ragetrain about bots etc.

Simply my #opinion.

I don't dislike the idea of a large update being translated into other language. I hate citadels though. I'll rate it at a big, fat *yawn*.

I'm like a hot mess, but without the alcohol.

I don't care much for citadels. It's very hard to find motivation to skill in the citadels if you gain nearly no benefits, subpar xp for cosmetic rewards. That they are translated only makes sense, that it's announced on the front page as well.

Yeah l0rt I understand.

I agree with you death. The one issue with citadels is functionality. Jagex went mostly for customization of looks with a side prize of decent xp for making a contribution and an xp booster ring. Since their release players have made heavy note of jagexs work on citadels and how they were a great contribution to the community. Along with that players made note that when it came actually making it a hub of clan socialization and interaction they failed to realize the importance of utilities like banks. The citadels lack majorly in utilities that would make it a place you'd stay to do things. Of course this has been patched with bank spots, but what about other smaller utilities such as a range, water source, etc.

Note: this isn't my best explanation of what is lacking in citadels, but I hope you get where I was going with it.

So, finally the update we have all been waiting for!!! I was standing at the portal waiting for this to happen because the big hype around citadels, this is a moment i wont forget.

In a few years you can ask people, where were you when they updated citadels to be available in other languages, Ill be saying...I was there!!!(So disappointed I had to refresh my browser for this, I ended up not doing it)

Me and the wise old man go way back.... he was a foolish boy back then.

My crystal armour idea.

Personally. I think a commendable detail about Jagex is that they do push out new content every week.

Most MMOs take weeks, if not years.

The Magic Dart, Fire Blast, Snare, Entangle, and elemental bolt spells now cause the correct amount of damage while the chaos gauntlets are equipped.

"When the chaos gauntlets are equipped"?

How about in Dungeoneering? That was the only time I've seen problems with fire blast.

At least with Mobilising Armies after they released it, they recognized it's uselessness and forgot about it. This is like fixing up a car that was not good to begin with. Not saying Citadels are a Yugo, but more like a Daewoo.

I'm like a hot mess, but without the alcohol.

Not sure how to rank MA and Citadels in usefulness. MA gives me +4 strength bonus and a purple title, Citadels allow me to open 3 stages of agility effigy.

This about sums up usefulness. Though I have 99 agility, therefore citadel is totally useless, though I did get the songs and task.

I don't care much for citadels. It's very hard to find motivation to skill in the citadels if you gain nearly no benefits, subpar xp for cosmetic rewards. That they are translated only makes sense, that it's announced on the front page as well.

essentially this combined with countless hours of dev time wasted on them in the first place, imagine how many quests or other worthwhile content could have been added in place of citadels. But instead they devote their time to pointless citadels that no one really enjoys

As far as amount of development time, use, popularity, anticipation, etc., MA has to be the biggest flop in RS history.

I'm like a hot mess, but without the alcohol.

Both MA and citadels have a lot of potential, but the issue is that Jagex is under a lot of time constrain and putting out such a marvelous piece of content would crap on everything else. This is why runescape will always be the jack of all trades.

Definitely agree. I think Jagex really needs to just come out of the closet and make a public statement stating that they always plan to release quality content, but due to the frequency of content; and the the frequency wont change, and wide range of content that Jagex will not be able to always release content up to par to the players expectations. Matter of fact... Thinking about it a bit I almost sure Jagex has at one point released a statement like this in the past. Sad I didn't take a picture of it.

More dev time wasted on useless crap

It's not useless. It was needed. It just should have been in the patch notes.
