SoA vs CR for Glacytes

Featured Replies

I find that I can kill the 3 Glacytes (Unstable last) before the Unstable regenerates health after its first explosion, about half the time, depending on luck with hits. I use Cr, Ddef, Steel titan, Barrows gloves, Ahrims, and Neit helm, praying Turm and using Ovl. My Attack is not 99, so I believe that killing the Glacytes before the Unstable regenerates might be easier/faster with 99. Also, melee probably would be even more effective if bringing Dragon Claws, which I did not. However I find that more often than not, the cause of not killing the Unstable before it regenerates is my Titan missing with its scrolls on the Sapping - something that unfortunately cannot be influenced by equipment/stats.

I've heard that Storm of Arma works very well in killing the Glacytes quickly. However, I am unsure whether it would be worth using, considering its relatively high price (~3k per rune at this time). I bought 100 runes and tried using it instead of Cr for the Glacytes, and didn't get noticably better results. Although, maybe it was simply because I'm not used to it.

How much GP/hr would it take to make SoA more cost effective than Cr, and does the current GP/hr at Glacors already exceed that number?

I can tell you how soa has worked for me (can't compare cause i can't try rapier).

I am able to kill unstable last about 85% of the time in one hit, and that is with uni.

If you are using anarma battlestaff, arcane stream and are overloaded with a high magic bonus so you don't miss, you can 3-4 hit (4 hit is nearly guaranteed) enduring and sapping and then 1 hit unstable.

The arma shards about cover the cost of the arma runes. So you don't have to worry about losing money if you use soa. It is quite expensive still, so you won't be making as much from glacors.

3600 / [seconds saved] * [number of Armadyl runes per kill] * [cost of one Armadyl rune] = [gp/hr that makes SoA better than rapier]

If you save 5 seconds per glacyte stage/per kill, at a cost of about 20k in Armadyl runes, then that's 14.400.000 gp/hr to use SoA over rapier. Compare that to the gp/hr of glacors with SoA to see if it's worth it.

From what I've seen Storm of armadyl kills the enduring in 3 hits about 90% of the time and at most 4 hits 99% of the time. Basically you can kill the enduring with storm of armadyl at the same time that the unstable is blowing up for the very first time, then finish off the unstable as your titan is finishing off the sapping. It's very possible to clear all 3 of them out at the exact same time.
