Assuming you are to stay living in your country for a while, who else would speak it near you? There's actually a fairly big following in the US (just not the Midwest, but I'm moving out in 1-2 years). January 21, 200620 yr I think he beated himself up before taking the picture :wink: Anyway, Esperanto is really useful if you want to learn other languages after you learn it, I heard it has something of most of the languages :) It really isn't that useful that way unless you learn it with complete understanding of each part of the language. The thing about Esperanto is that it may be a combination of languages but it will lend more to confusion when you start dong the germanic combination verbs with singular word verbs in say, the romance languages. Esperanto, while cultishly may be cool, and may be helpful in some part of your life, like the IRC chatrooms, will never be a main language. There is too much culture left in the languages right now, people will not lay down ther language in exchange for another. We can even see this n this thread at the comment towards the (quote-on-quote satirical) pomp of English being the dominant language. As for Rizla, you may want to refresh your understanding of the difference between SATIRE and SARCASM. All from the perspective of a linguist.

Me, hardcore :roll: A satire degenerates the idea by an over-played espousng of the idea. Hence the Satire of Satires, A Modest Proposal attacked through ridicule. There was no ridicule in your post, there wasn't enough to actually set up a satire. It was merely a sarcastic statement meant in jest. What you in your genius failed to do, or perhaps smartly did when portraying your case, is you left out the WHOLE. A satire is a "A literary work in which human vice or folly is attacked through irony, derision, or wit." Whereas sarcasm is more like "A cutting, often ironic remark intended to wound." Its a matter of scale and tone.
