Problems with getting Rocks?

It's this magic thing called "luck"

The rocks are random, sometimes they take forever; others they don't.

You could try switching methods just to break up the monotony of hunting jadinkos.

There are rumours that switching activities or alternating rocks increases your chances of getting a rock, but I feel like those theories are based on confirmation bias.

Mod Maz who made it did confirm with rocks after rock 1 in a skill odds half, but getting a rock in any other skill resets other skills odds on RSOF shortly after update.

I have 100% certainty of my memory of it, but I can't for the life of me find it anymore, so only got my word to go on.

Saw a few threads on hlf about people complaining on rock times :(

Personally I haven't, but I don't do it often.

I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come."

Certain activities drop rocks more frequently, I think...

If your in search of rocks specifically, I would follow Sy_Accursed memory and switch skills then come back to Hunting normally.

But if Hunter is your last skill to find a rock in...well... just hang in there :P

Well, I'm at the moment in a shortage of Hunter jujus. so I will have to hunt other stuff now :c

Ty for the replies :P

Don't hunt something else, get another type of rock before coming back to hunter, like fishing, woodcut, etc.

I've been doing the "get 1 rock, switch skills, get 1 rock, switch back, get 1 rock" method for the last 3 weeks and on average it still takes me just over 7 hours (7.09 from my data) to get a full set of rocks from scratch. This is very close to my first 3 weeks, which were done using "get both rocks from a single skill before moving on to a new skill" (7.14). The sample isn't very large, but I have removed nearly all other possible sources of variation (i.e. I only ran my stopwatch when I was actually skilling and not idling, and I used the same method for each skill every week. The only remaining factors should be fairly negligible, such as my actual level since my only non-99 skills are buyables rather than resources, or inconsistencies in actions/hr caused by human error/incompetence/inebriation).

That said, it is definitely true that the second rock of a skill has half the probability of the first. In my observations, each week there appears to be some rocks that are "more common" than others though this is based entirely on sheer observation (I was too stupid to think of recording specific rocks and only wrote down times as a whole...). I might begin gathering data on the specifics of individual rocks starting this week.

Anyhow, if you're only hunting to get rocks rather than xp, go with falconry. It has the fastest individual catches per hour in hunter.

You can get over 500 catches/hr at the falconry? Cuz that's what I can get at grey chins on a full world.

Yeah, I've been having trouble with fishing rocks lately. Usually get both within two urns, and have lately been getting them in five.

Have you even tried falconry? I'd be so daring as to even state it's 1k cph, but even on conservative numbers you can definitely get 500 per hour without even paying full attention. I'll test for more precise numbers this weekend, but there honestly is not much variation given that you don't need to rely on waiting for something to wander into one of your traps.
