TC3
Just a quick question, what would be the best way for me to train my mining at my current level? Thanks
Hot Nana
Granite Powermine Iron choice is yours, granite is faster If you hate both of them do shooting stars. I did shooting stars from 60-81 or so. Don't use star clans though, else you won't get any xp

TC3
How would I go about training with shooting stars since they don't land very often? Do I just wait for one to land then mine it? Or is there a way to find lots of them per hour?
Low Levelled
Star find is a good clan. Make sure to read their thread on the RSOF to understand terminology and such.
Hot Nana
Solo them in worlds that star clans do not visit If you use star find you'll get like 2k xp per star... I don't know why people recommend them. You could mine them every 2 hours and do some mining in between or whatever you want to do
Troacctid
There's also mining at clan citadels, which is good xp at that level. Read my blog | Follow me on Twitter | Track my XP

Quyneax
Is it still the best mining xp in living rock cavens ?Shooting stars/citadels/granite, no :P. But the best xp can be found in the Caverns, yes, concentrated gold. If you need xp in many skills, hunting effigies might be better. Hot Nana
LRC isn't the best xp but it is much easier due to the amount of AFK mining that can be done. That is exactly how I got 99 mining, conc gold with mining jujus

Fallstar
Most people do concentrated gold, but for pure mining granite is faster than concentrated gold. But concentrated gold is so much easier than granite that the small xp drop is worth it to most people. Although if you're superheating at LRC, thats obviously the superior method if you value smithing/magic xp. To answer the OP's original question, granite is by far the fastest xp at your level. You can switch over to concentrated coal rocks at 77 for an easier time, but I'd recommend sticking it out at granite till 80 then going and doing concentrated gold. Granite is faster xp, but much more boring. Some people can powermine and get the 99 faster, and some can't. Even though gold is much easier, granite is a good 30k xp or so faster I believe. Hedgehog
Concentrated gold with a dragon pick:~95% accuracy2.75 tick cooldownsNo ticks lost between rocksNo ticks lost dropping ores (if you low alch them)2.75 ticks per ore~2072 ores per hour~134,600 xp/hour max Granite with a dragon pick:~90% accuracy2.75 tick cooldowns1 tick lost between rocks1 tick lost dropping 3 ores (.33 per ore)4.08 ticks per ore~1323 ores/hour~99k xp/hour if only 5kgs are mined, which is highly unlikely You lose a lot of time at conc gold running between spawns, banking (if necessary), and dropping ores (if not low alching), so around 25% of the xp can be removed. Either way, concentrated gold is substantially better than granite.

This just pushes it a little bit further ahead of granite. Hot Nana
Well yeah I should've mentioned that low alch or dropping may be faster than granite. Personally I didn't try those methods out, I just banked all the ores and used jujus. With this I was about to get about 60k xp/h I believe, but with much less concentration. With this I was about to get about 60k xp/h I believe, but with much less concentration.I like your pun :3 It takes 32 ticks by my count to bank. That's an extra 1.14-1.77 ticks per ore, depending on the amount of stuff in your inv. That's 3.89-4.52 ticks per ore, or 1330-1540 ores/hour, or 86.5k-100k xp/hour. That works out to 64.9k-75.0k xp/hour, if you adjust for running between rocks and waiting for spawns. In order to beat the lowest possible xp/hour, your average xp/ore at granite has to be 49.0 xp. I don't have enough data on granite distribution to make any claims about that, however.
Fallstar
Hedgehog's assumption that there are no ticks lost between rocks is why concentrated gold is so high in his calculations I think. I'd say that alone, comibined with waiting for rocks to spawn after you've mined the three viable ones, would drop the xp rate below granite. I guess you could hop, but either way you're looking at some major delays. Asmodean <

With a gold mining cc however you can be sure to go to the right rock first, and it's not uncommon to mine for 10+ minutes straight at a single rock. I'd estimate under 10 rock changes per hour. Hedgehog
Ya, I was very conservative with that part. If anything, the delay between rocks at granite would exceed 1 tick, so the xp/hour there would be even lower, but I cbf grabbing that data :P
