Nomad at 110 combat

Posting another topic on behalf of a friend as they want to try and beat nomad at 110 combat. Their exact stats are 82 att/str, 81 def, 78 range, 81 hp, 71 prayer and 58 summoning.

I was wondering if it would be possible to beat nomad with these stats, and if so, what would be the set up they would use.

I have looked at a few guides, mostly saying void range, but my friend's range level isn't too high, and they don't have access to void, but they do have a chaotic rapier. Would it be best to get void, get higher range, or both? Or just skip both those and melee if it's possible. Maybe getting a chaotic crossbow and 80 range would be good enough? I'm not sure how much they like pc so it would be somewhat of a last resort.

Thanks for the help. :)

EDIT: 78 magic as well.

You forgot the magic stat.

Maging Nomad is actually pretty viable. Ganodermic is good against him (it blocks damage from his special attacks), and at high levels, you can get good damage with Storm of Armadyl or a Polypore Staff. Blood Barrage works too.

Void is pretty important to have; not necessarily for nomad, but just for general use. It'd be efficient for him to get it sooner rather than later. Failing that, just rock dhides and standard melee gear. The strategy shouldn't be too different.

My friend can't use storm of armadyl (of course), but polypore could be interesting to use. Is it really that good with Ganodermic? And I was also under the impression that Nomad's attacks didn't specifically have attack styles, so wouldn't Ganodermic not be that good?

I also might suggest that they get void, even if they don't use it for Nomad as it is good in the long run. I take it that melee would be possible at their level then?

He'll definitely have a harder time than higher levels, but it's doable. Iirc his attacks are magic based, so the defense of bank would help. I'm not sure if the soaking works, but if it does, it'd be extremely valuable.

Hmm I might go test Ganodermic later, though it's probably not a very good comparison, but at the least it could tell me if it's an utter fail or not. Might see what the hits are like in d hide vs gano/void as well.

I can vouch that ganodermic helps a ton. The magic defense bonus makes him splash way too often and the massive soak percentage reduces his massive attack by a good portion (whatever the math is). However, using overloads, an Armadyl battlestaff, and Storm of Armadyl (of course!), I splashed waaaaaay too often at 94 magic. I had better luck with a whip than Storm of Armadyl.

I did the No More Nomad DT challenge with Ganodermic with 99 Constitution, and his hit all but 1 lp attack was hitting 500s on me as well as his other typeless damage attacks. So I'd say it's definitely useful. Seems like the typeless attacks are magic based after all.

Ohhhh this is very good to know, it will make Nomad quite easy for my friend then, or easier than it used to be. This should probably make meleeing pretty good then.

Going to try using magic right now for some luls.

EDIT: I just maged nomad with ganodermic and polypore staff, I ripped through him. Used 3 brews total and 3 super restores. I'm assuming it would be better to melee still, but it was quite fun and most of the brews used were safing.

Ganodermic needs 85 magic and defense though... :wall:

No idea how good the previous versions of Gano are, but you can easily melee him, it's mainly down to luck, I'd reccomend a Bgs spec at the start, the lack of defense could really help!

I just did it at these stats.

Range with ruby (e)

Karils chest and skirt

Archer helm

Fury

Mystic Boots (lol magic def)

Barrows Gloves

Book of Zammy

God Cape

Just have him use brews/restores and a BoB with brews in. Once he uses all the brews from the BoB, dismiss and summon a spirit kyatt and spam ambush. For p2 just pray melee.

Barely got me by

I think using void would be particularly beneficial to him, so he should definitely invest some more time finishing the Void series.

This would make the boss fight a lot easier and a lot of hassle finding a different, but not necessarily efficient setup can be avoided.
