assassin_696
Incase ya don't know, their new album, "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" is the apparently the fastest selling debut album of all time. What makes them pretty special is their huge fan base has mostly been built up over internet blogs and through their website. I don't have the new album myself, but i'm going to try and get it this Saturday, it's supposed to be very good. But i'm sure i'm just stating the obvious here, so does anyone have it here? What's it like? Do you even like the Arctic Monkeys? Is it all hype? (Not IMO) Have you seen any of their gigs? etc. etc. I have a couple of their single releases, I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor, and Five Minutes With The Arctic Monkeys and they're great, hopefully the album will be just as good. Mercifull
Its Chav-rock, all their songs are mediocre. A lot of potential but i really dont see how people rate them so highly yet other bands that unfortunatly just dont get airtime dont have the fans. shame. Rofl 'chav-rock', I love it. No offence to them, but the only song i heard of theirs was, 'I bet you look good on the dance-floor' and that song just does not appeal to me. I'm all for trying music, but i really have something against these bands that make a kind of cop-out song like this, and then expect me to buy the album. All being said however, I may as borrow my friends copy.
Bubsa
Yeah, they're great when intoxicated, but it's not something I'd reach for when bored. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
madchild
Got it on the day it came out. Love it. Most band's around are Chavvy, so just deal with it? Ever heard of Hard-Fi? They rock too. ChavRock = New Britpop? Retired from Runescape and the OoC.
How2PK
Heard a part of their album at work. It's okay, nothing too special or new though. I should take it home to listen to the rest of it. Mercifull
ChavRock = New Britpop? Urgh no!!!! Theres loads of great British bands around and old ones releasing new stuff this year. ChavRock is not the new Britpop at all. Im discusted that somone even mentioned it. Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Phil
I'm kind of undecided on them at the moment. I seem to get tired quickly of the songs that I have heard from them so far. Catchy yeah but a bit annoying.
Antrune
Their hardly Chavs ffs. Ok so they have a 'common' accent doesnt mean their chavs. Im not sure you know what a Chav is? Even if you have grasped a basic concept its probably warped. I for one love the album and suggest everyone gets it :D Listening to it now infact. l13k n0es m3 t3h ch4v r0ckz0r?! And no lol why do you always want to get stuff from John Lewis. Its over ̣̉300 more then than what i paid. John Lewis is a great, great shop. Mercifull
Its not just about their accent Antrune. Its about what they sing about. meeting girls in clubs, getting drunk etc Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Bubsa
Their hardly Chavs *. Ok so they have a 'common' accent doesnt mean their chavs. Im not sure you know what a Chav is? Even if you have grasped a basic concept its probably warped. It's not about them, IMO opinion, it's about their fanbase. I mean, take a look at Kylie Minogue. A large majority of her fan base are gay males, that doesn't make Kylie a gay male. I don't think the Arctics are chavs (or not stereotypes anyway) but undoubtedly a large part of their fans are chavs. I'm not trying to generalise, however, in saying that only chavs can listen to them, or that anyone who does listen to them is a chav. I, for instance, am quite fond of the odd Kylie Minogue. And I'd consider myself a heterosexual male (Of course, you're entitled to your opinions ;)) Hope you see where I come from with that. -EDIT- Oh come on, we've censored homosexual. I can see why actually, it's an derogatory term for 80% of the RS community :| This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
assassin_696
Chav rock or not, i've just bought the new album and really like it. It's true that a lot of music that deserves the airplay doesn't get it, but that's just the way of the music world, being in the right place at the right time. Personally i really like the Arctic Monkeys, sure i wouldn't play it early in the morning, or in other settings, but it's good fun. hellsurfer
Its not just about their accent Antrune. Wasn't the old one like, Appetite for Destruction, or something? Just curious... Never heard of 'em. Knowing some of my friends, they'll pounce on a new CD that's 'sposed to be good (Compared to me who goes for the older stuff ;O). I'll see if my friend's have any, and judge for myself if it's good or not. ;D EDIT: Found the old one. I dunno how up to date the Wikipedia list is, but before the Arctic Monkeys, twas Highest selling Debut album - Boston - Boston - 17 times platinum. ...Baby one more time by Brittany Spears went 14 times platinum. Kinda gross, eh? ;P It really has

Mercifull
Which just goes to prove that album sales doesnt means the band have talent. :P Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. ChavRock is not the new Britpop at all. Im discusted that somone even mentioned it. Yeah that wasn't the best thing to say. I agree with you about the new British Bands. Music is great in England at the moment. Let's just say i wasn't feeling well when i wrote that. (I was actually ill when i wrote that). Also notice the ?. I was suggesting it. Not saying it was true. Ever heard of taste? There is a Christian Rock band called taste who came to my town. They weren't very good :) Anyway, i like Hard-Fi, so don't flame me for my music taste please. Retired from Runescape and the OoC.
