auto typing against rules?

Featured Replies

I see so many auto typers at Daimenoheim. Is it against rules?

Yes. Under 'Macroing and Use of Bots' or 'Disruptive Behaviour'.

Software that can be used to gain an unfair advantage in our games may not be used. This includes automation tools, macros, bots, auto-typers and any other tools that circumvent any of our mechanisms designed to automatically log out inactive users.

Any game-specific, third-party software that encourages contradiction of the previous statement, bypasses the normal navigation of our website, automatically requests pages from our website or which endangers user accounts are also regarded as detrimental to RuneScape and should not be used.

Source.

They stated that they don't care about auto typers.

I don't get why it's against rules, but people who are at Daimeonehim are using it.

This one would like to see the source of that, after seeing the rule references above...

(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... And talks in 3rd person for the timebeing due to how insane they are... Sometimes even to themself.)

It gives a player an unfair advantage, and it produces a lot of unwanted spam. Just because people are doing it doesn't mean that it is allowed.

It comes down to Jagex's lack of hard enforement, and peoples' general willingness to break the rules when they know the worst thing that will happen is a couple day's mute.

I wouldn't say there is a lack of hard enforcement, it was only a few months ago they introduced they new auto-mute system that does catch and mute a lot of auto-typers and flag them up to Jagex to be dealt with.

Admittedly it isn't as good as it was at first release but they had to ease it up bit acause places like w117 daemonheim all the people legitimately calling effigies or for teams were getting muted.

Also I don't think there *needs* to be all that much enforcement beyond mutes for it, the mute is to end the disruption they cause by spamming chat and (assuming they aren't an advert bot that just stands auto-talking) inconveniences the player for a few days/weeks. Considering most auto-talkers are on obvious throw away accounts and not mains I'd say its a relatively safe bet whatever punishment there is can get quite serious if you repeat offend.

It is against the rules and is actually one of the few things jagex consistently do mute for. (Unlike the total ignorance of bot reports in the past)

Over 50% of runescape botted at one point. That's still against the rules.

Around 25% of the above post states made-up details as facts.

Namely 'over 50% of rs botted at one point' absolutely made-up, no proof behind it and quite a major exaggeration. Yes there may of been a lot of bots but the majority of the bots were owned by a few RWT companies and players who actually botted I sincerely doubt ran as high as over 50%, but there is no proof for that either way.
