March 15, 201214 yr Hi. I've recently started soloing bandos for money/fun. I typically get about 15 kills per trip without vampirism, actually haven't tried with yet as i keep forgetting. Takes me about 7 minutes to get from the bank to 40kc outside bandos room. This is my current equipment setup: My current stats: This is my current inventory setup: And my war tortoise: I deploy the dreadnip as soon as possible. I try to use one claw spec per kill to speed up the kill, and reduce the damage done. Once Graardor is dead i flick between deflect magic and soulsplit on Steelwill. I then leave soulsplit on and kill Strongstack and then Grimspike. I typically reach max health during Grimspike, at which point I'll activate deflect range until he's dead. I only use uni healing scrolls while Graardor is alive and attacking, so i can continue attacking him while healing to kill him as soon as possible, i use brews for the same purpose when out of special power. I have turmoil activated at all times there are enemies in the room. The first thing i run out of on every trip is food. 8 overload doses is enough for my current kill rates, 6 not enough, so i see no need for flasks at the moment. I could probably use super restore flasks and use the saved inventory space for food, but i don't think it's actually worth the cost. I plan on getting rhino cape tomorrow and goliath gloves in a few weeks. Other than those, are there any obvious improvements i could do for my equipment, inventory and combat strategy? I'm looking for immediate improvements, but i still appreciate long term advice too. (Get a yak!) Edit: Would spirit cape be worth using over rhino cape? I can see it being awesome for uni healing... But sacrificing +8 strength +3 accuracy +12 all defense will make me cry.Edit edit: Would it be worth bringing both capes and switching to spirit every time i use the scroll?
March 15, 201214 yr What other chaotics do you have? Chaotic kite? CM? Sell DFS and take a dragon defender instead? With leftover cash more brew flasks for your tortoise. Don't forget recover specials too for more claw specs and maybe a renewal flask? :) Have you tried using void or karil's top/verc's helm? ( .. Just looking at the Tip.It Bandos guide) Instead of sharks have you tried rocktails? 15 kills seems decent though - especially since you can re-stock and bank pretty fast. .. You probably have more experience doing bandos than me .. "Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come." "An imperfect man can do great deeds, and a great man imperfect ones.

Same reason why i use DFS over defender. I find the mage actually doesn't do much damage to me even in bandos, while Graardor's range attack utterly destroys me regardless of armour... I personally believe that mage tanking gear for solos is a common misconception that comes from it being notably better for none-tanks in team kills, as they don't have to worry about the range attack, but i do see how it could potentially be useful for a solo, too. Verac's helm is a great idea, I'm almost certain the extra defence would be more useful than the +3 strength. Rocktails, eh, 15% more healing for 150% the cost. I don't think it's worth it or necessary, but i suppose it would help get an extra kill or two. And lol i like to think i know what I'm doing, but i still appreciate all the help i can get. I mean the verac's helm for example, that's bound to be an improvement! Thanks a lot. :)
March 15, 201214 yr Chaotic Maul beats rapier by far. If you are worried about not having a sheild, try swapping on the dfs just before he hits.(Question for Q: Would it be worth bringing a range Soaking sheild? Considering how accurate Graa's range attack is, cutting it by 20/30 damage each time must help a ton?) ^^My blog of EoC PvM, lols and Therapy.^^My livestream- Currently: Offline :(Offical Harpy Therapist of the Mad[hide=Lewtations]Barrows drops: Dharok's helm x2, Guthan's helm, Ahrim's top, Hood and skirt, Torag's hammers, Karils skirt, Karil's top, Torag's helm, Verac's skirt, Verac's Flail, Dharok's Platebody.Dag kings drops: Lost count! :wall:4k+ Glacors, 7 Ragefires, 4 Steadfasts, 4 Glaivens, 400+ shards![/hide]
March 15, 201214 yr Maul is worth it, you can easily flash soul split with it (comparatively anyway). Spirit Cape really isn't worth it as primary unless you are not using your primary weapon very much (summoning tanks or w/e). If you can losslessly flash it, it's worth it. It's better to use less sharks and more brews afaik. You could modify that setup to last twice as long, saving you 7 minutes bank time every ~94 minutes (e.g. from 30 kills/94 minutes you go to 30 kills/87 minutes, 8% higher kills per hour). Maybe CLS would be best for that. (I'm sure I'll master whatever one i stick to over time, I've just been hit enough 600's to scare me into not doing it unless necessary :P) Noted about the spirit cape, flashing it would probably be more hassle than it's worth. (Yay, i now have another valid reason for getting comp cape now rhino cape exists) Yeah, but is the 25k per brew flask really worth 8% more kills? Assuming i used 30 brews instead of sharks and that doubled my kills/trip, that's 750k gone for 8% faster kills. I'd have to be making over 9m/hour for that to be worth it. I just did a trip with maul and got 15 kills, the minions is what screwed me most as maul is too slow to deal with them and actually makes soulsplit healing to full much more difficult, i even failed to kill all 3 before Graardor spawned once. Is a rapier switch worth bringing? Is a defender worth bringing to improve that switch? *sigh* just checked Adv log and it says i missed a shard... I keep doing that, lol.
March 15, 201214 yr Wouldnt a chaotic kite be the biggest upgrade at this point? I have hardly any experience soloing Bandos but I remember his range attack hitting pretty hard.
March 15, 201214 yr Author Wouldnt a chaotic kite be the biggest upgrade at this point? I have hardly any experience soloing Bandos but I remember his range attack hitting pretty hard.It maxes at about 300. Absorption only effects the excess damage of 200. So at best it would reduce the hit by about 14 damage... I dunno. It has +~15 melee/range defense, -15 magic defence, and -7 strength, should be about equal, probably worse.
March 15, 201214 yr The maul matches Graardor's attack speed afaik. When you use it you have to bring rapier + defender as well for the minions. Brew flasks aren't worth it for any God Wars except maybe Kree'arra, at least with yak I think. You should use regular brews, which will allow you to do 3-4 ovl trips (not sure how much of your healing is from your unicorn). You would have 5 spaces for non-potions, 14 spaces for overloads and restores and 27 Saradomin brew (4). Items Cost LP Healed Lasts Banking Kills/time Cost/time Old healing 28 shark, 36 brew dose 6*28k + 28* 28*1k = 196k 11360 40 minutes 7 mins 15/47 mins = 19,15 kph 250k/hr New healing (1) 108 brew dose 27*15k = 405k 17280 lp 60 minutes 7 mins 22.5/67 mins = 20,15 kph 360k/hr New healing (2) 108 brew dose 27*15k = 405k 17280 lp 80 minutes 7 mins 30/87 mins = 20,69 kph 280k/hr New healing (3) 138 brew dose 23*28k = 644k 22080 lp 100 minutes 7 mins 37.5/107 mins = 21,03 kph 380k/hr If it's 150k loot per kill, brews are 40k/hr extra profit with 60 minute trips, 200k/hr extra with 80 minute trips, compared to the mix of flasks and sharks that is. If you'd use 40 doses of regular brew instead (trade 4 sharks for brews and replace flasks with regular potions) you will save about 24k per inventory for the same healing, reducing cost to 220k/hr. 5 ovl trips with only brew flasks are borderline worth it too, certainly better than flasks + sharks or 3 ovl trips with 27 regular brews (but you might not use that many). That's excluding any attack turns saved by not having to eat. As for cks vs. dfs, I personally would say dfs is better, for the strength bonus and magic defence mostly, and being cheaper. March 15, 201214 yr Personally i would use a Maul. If you wait till Graardor attacks you first, then attack him, you can time your hits and soul split every hit without having to worry about messing up the prayer switching. Rapier + Def for Minions, as mentioned. I would take a few Spec Restores. They save a lot of food. Weren't you the one ranting about that not too long ago anyway? Saying it's stupid to stay for long campy trips when a Spec Restore setup would be better? Anyway, Spec as much and as often as you can (assuming Graardor is at least around 40% HP) as this will not only improve your kph but will save you a lot of food. Spirit cape would be worth it, but not as primary. Only switch to it when you need to heal up, switch back to other cape after. I remember getting around 20 - 22 kph using this method (although i did have a Steel Titan to help a bit), so 15 kph really isn't that bad.Think the best kph would be something around 28 maybe 30 depending on the spawn speed and banking speed. But that means Maxed gear/Stats/Steel Titan.
