Is the hunting skill worth it?

Featured Replies

I haven't trained the hunting skill, but I am interested.

When I train skills like fletching, crafting and smithing, I usually do it so I can make money off the items by high alcheming them.

And I can use the potions, food and runes I make by the herblore, cooking and runecrafting skill.

But are there any benefits of the hunting skill? I wouldn't train it unless I know I can get something worthy in return.

The reason why I don't train the construction skill is because it's mostly a money drainer. Yeah, sure you can get beautiful decorations in your house, but other than that I see that skill as just a money drainer, and I know what I'm talking about because I have trained that skill. Besides I can get a lot more pineapple pizzas and for free by making them instead of relying on the cook to make that for me.

I have no idea how the hunting skill works. And I will gladly read the guide and learn more about it. I just wanna know if it has benefits like the other skills I mentioned. Thank you.

Money can be made with the hunting skill at the cost of exp rates. Yes it has benefits, namely jujus which can't be purchased from other players.

As Kim said, hunter is the only way to get juju potions. If you are a DIY'er, you can also get chins (for ranging) and grenwall spikes (good money + 2nd for ext range).

Also, construction is needed if you want to do herblore habitat without having to pay a fortune or need a gilded altar. Houses have plenty of uses, but sadly most 80+ level req's have niche uses. Still a useful skill, imo.

Working on max and completionist capes.

Alright, just for curiosity I looked up the juju potion on the RuneScape wiki, and I found out that I can get a baron shark which seems like a very useful item.

I also found out that I can make juju gumbo which is a very healthy food.

Alright, that's great. That's good enough for me. I am going to learn more about that herblore habitat soon and maybe use it.

I was wondering if the hunting skill can help me with fighting monsters. And since the juju gumbo is a very healthy food, yes, it can.

Let's say I have the right level to get that food, would I be able to get it as easily as sharks? If not, I'm not sure if it's completely worth it. But I will give the hunting skill a try.

I only use the Ranged skill to kill dark wizards since they drop runes which is very useful. Other than that, no I don't train that skill.

baron sharks and juju gumbo are some of the less useful herblore habitat rewards- mining, woodcutting and farming jujus are much more useful.

It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

Alright, the stone and wood spirit seem useful, but unfortunately I have a long way to go before I can reach 70 herblore. Especially since I spend more time killing monsters than I spend on other skills.

I also went to the page itself. And I need 70 hunter before I can do that activity, which is a lot.

But I have a question. How exactly are those spirits useful? I mean almost every ore and tree I'm aware of is close to a bank. So I don't see how I would need an item to do it for me.

Mostly, juju spirits save time banking, increasing the rate at which you get items and experience. Juju farming doesn't save time but instead provides a direct boost to the number of herbs you get.

For example, if you're mining concentrated gold, you'll be able to bank easily 10-15 ores with a single spirit, and 50+ with a single dose of potion. That's two bank trips saved.

Personally I want to get to at least 83 hunting so that I can catch dragon implings.. or kingly.. i dont know.. but the rewards to get from the implings are well worth advancing your hunter level and catching some of them.

Implyings? Oh, right, they should be another reason why the hunting skill is worth it.

While training the cooking skill I did notice some ingredients that are can only be obtained from the hunting skill, and I bought those items. But maybe if I train the hunting skill I don't have to do that anymore.
