How can I make my blog more interesting?

Featured Replies

My blog isn't getting a lot of views, and it's because it isn't very interesting. But here is the problem, I don't know how it's not interesting. So tell me, how can I make it more interesting?

I love fighting monsters, and I also love listing everything the monster drops.

I'm not good at making a RuneScape blog, I will admit that, but I don't see the problems with my blog, so if you guys could tell me the problems, I'm willing to pay attention and maybe help my blog to be more interesting, thanks.

your blog looks like a giant chart of boring things happening.

add some pictures of you doing random stuff, bank value, costumes, pet collections etc.

32,606th to 99 magic || 15,388th to 99 dungeoneering || 12,647th to 99 farming

14,792nd to 99 range || 24,954th to 99 herblore

O my, even as someone who enjoys logging stuff from RS, that blog is pretty boring.

Spruce up your opening post for starters. Add in some colors, banners, etc. Do what Vilya said and also put in a section about goals and achievements.

Working on max and completionist capes.

You know, come to think of it, I already can spot some problems with my blog. And I should try to fix it.

First off the first post is exactly how a first post of a blog shouldn't be. All it says is what I'm currently doing, and what I will do next, and it's just a list of things I'm gonna do next. Yeah, that is boring, I will admit that. The post should have my goals on there instead, and I should also be saying who I am, and what I like to do in RuneScape.

I do like listing the drops monsters have. But I will admit when I read a blog with nothing but lists of monster drops, I'd get bored very quickly. Maybe I should add those lists into a hide tag and say something useful in the main post. I don't know, do you guys think putting an entire list of monster drops to hide tags is a good idea?

And here is another thing, who cares what drops I get from the guards when I steal from stalls? That is probably unnecessary details.

I really like pickpocketing, it might be fun to do it in game, but is it fun to see a short lines saying "I pickpocketed x knights."? I'm not sure if anyone cares how many knights I pickpocketed, do you care?

All the posts are the same thing, that's another problem. All posts about monsters I kill say that I pickpocketed knights, stole from stalls, the chest, and what monsters I kill.

Yep, I now understand why the blog isn't getting a lot of views, and it's totally my fault. If I want more people to see the blog, I really need to improve it a lot, and that's not something that can be done overnight.

Speaking as the guy with the top most-viewed blog on the site, I recommend writing things that people want to read. That's the most important thing. Once you've got that down, try linking to it in lots of places to build up a readerbase. And see if you can get the official @RuneScape Twitter to retweet you; that usually gets a traffic spike.

This blog really got alot of positive feedback:

It inspired me to make my own, which got tons of support too:

Sadly I failed to update it. Might come back after my exams though. Just pointing out blogs shouldn't be all lists or walls of text.

Oh my god, why did I even make this thread to begin with? I shouldn't have. Because the truth is I don't really care about making my blog more interesting for others. I use my blog as a way to keep my lists of monster drops, what I make with skills and so on.

I care more about making videos on YouTube that are entertaining. I'm not gonna put any effort into making my blog better. That's right, I'm gonna let my blog stay boring. Making the blog more entertaining would mean getting rid of full list of monster drops, which is something I won't do.

Close this thread if you want. It was a mistake to make this thread because I really don't care about making my blog more interesting for others.

i think part of you cares about having an interesting blog. but once you think about what that would entail you convince yourself that you don't care (cognitive dissonance), because it wouldn't be feasible for you to make it interesting.

For example, i want to write a book because books are so amazing. but once I realize i can't really write a book, i conclude that wanting to write a book was foolish and I don't actually really want that.

I tried to make my blog more interesting, but I still didn't get any replies.

Tripsis has told me what else I can do, and I will use images and put in a goal section in the future. But please at least tell me my blog is better than it was, because I tried to make it better.

My blog used to be very popular back in the day, I guess I kinda lost touch with the community at blogscape and that has something to do, anyways the link's on my signature in case you wanna check it out and have a basic idea for your layout or something

Alright, I think that about covers it. I know what I need to do.

More images, I will do that as soon as I'm done training RuneCrafting, Smithing, Cooking and Herblore. The post about the king black dragon will have an image. (so will other posts.)

And I put all my lists inside a hide tab, that way I can keep track of the drops I got and nobody has to see them. That should make my blog more interesting to read.

Anything else? Well, I'm gonna give it time. Making the blog worth reading isn't something that can be done overnight. But I am doing my best.
