Powerslaying Guide

You can wear a nosepeg when you're being attacked and void when you're attacking. It's kinda like ss flashing, except pretty much a death sentence in multi.

It works in theory though.

The ability to cannon is worth like... 5 salve amulets. :D

Don't use ganodermic for maging, the cost is too high for the benefit. Especially the leggings, they have less magic attack than Ahrim's even (sad no?).

Also I made this for ya:

  • Helmet: [item=9075] > [item=8446] > [item=5264]
These helmets boost your attack and strength rolls by one sixth when fighting assigned monsters. Enchanted helmets hold scrolls which is crucial for multicombat tasks.

  • Amulet: [item=4309] > [item=1324]
The [item=6674] is worse than a black mask or equivalent helmet. Strength amulets may be better at accuracies over 85%.

  • Body: [item=7074] = [item=10842] > [item=6647] > [item=3337] = [item=6157]
Torva is convenient for mithril dragons, but technically inferior due to the degrade cost. Proselyte is superior to Barrows equipment if you can survive in it.

  • Legs: [item=7075] = [item=10843] > [item=4616] = [item=6159]
Again, torva is convenient but technically inferior. Tassets are currently the most expensive strength bonus gain of the entire setup.

  • Boots: [item=11698] > [item=7070] > [item=7102] > [item=1710]
Steadfast boots are very expensive for their benefits.

  • Gloves: [item=4675] > [item=11804]
The time it takes to obtain a pair of goliath gloves is too great for it to be worth it, unless your slayer xp is way ahead of your melee xp.

  • Ring: [item=8849] > [item=8732] = [item=4386] = [item=10467] > [item=12044] > [item=842]
In Kuradal's dungeon, use a Ferocious ring. On most tasks a berserker ring is superior to both onyx (i) and vigour. Dragonstone and diamond rings are equal to a tokkul-zo when imbued.

  • Cape: [item=11371] > [item=12042] > [item=11369] > [item=4301] > [item=9044] = [item=10597]
If you're not using stab, the Ardougne cloak is the worst of all capes listed. On metal dragons, the added stab accuracy makes it better than a Soul Wars cape. The [item=10670] is usually not worth it.

  • Offhand: [item=10763] > [item=5230] > [item=6966]
Above 90% accuracy, a dragonfire shield might be superior to a rune defender.

  • Weapon: [item=9911] > [item=9912] = [item=11482] > [item=1010]
Goliath gloves are the best crush weapon, followed by the [item=9913]. Other than the rapier and longsword, the best stab weapon is [item=10635]. The longsword is worse than the whip on lower defence monsters.

No more spelling errors or having to update item stats/sprites :P. Yes I was bored .

Wow, this is great! Thanks! :D

Done. It loads instantly on my computer though. (Just got my old gaming machine, now I'm rocking max detail in everything. :) ) I got my Fero ring back, and I did a test for steel dragons.

Cls is much better than a whip vine... Just saying.

Maybe for you, but for a maxed player, you get max hits of 743 vs. 630. Since the whip attacks 5 times for the longswords 4, you get 2972 versus 3150 damage per 12 seconds. As you see, the vine whip deals almost 6% more damage at 100% accuracy.

Just test Dark beasts at cannon vs at Kuradal's. Kuradal's is about 10k xp per hour slower. (42k vs 51k) I'd recommend cannoning this task personally. Fire giants cannoning is more iffy, but for those with high value of time, still worth it. I think Dclaws is better than DDP here. I keep missing with DDP. Bleh.

Due to IRL situations, I am unable to log onto Runescape often, or update this guide. Consider this the final revision of the Powerslaying guide before the Evolution of Combat. I should be back to RS in 3 months time, where the update is just getting nice and ready. I will probably release "Powerslaying Guide v2", adjusted for the changes that the update brings.

For now, thanks everyone for advice and tips. I even used some of them in my own slaying, and it has helped.

Cheers! :)

This guide is ok at best. The detail is near zero. I will not even get into where you need to improve because there is so much needed, which I suppose is pointless because you stated this is the last revision for now. Instead, I recommend you read Zarfots guide on rsof

http://[use Quick Find Code]/sl=0/[Please Use QuickFind Code]?98,99,600,61329204,goto,1

His xp rates may be a bit out of date. Possibly a few other things. But his guide is fully detailed about every single aspect down to exact pixel/square location for cannon. Perhaps you're better off redoing his guide with an up to date version, especially after combat update.

Not out to bring down you personally, but slayer is an immensly complex skill and you do not even scratch the surface.

I am not a skiller, but i do some skills.

I find it hard to believe that there are even a handful of people that do slayer as well as you think it could be done. (I have read Zarfot's guide, but his guide is getting old and outdated. There are new spots and different xp rates for monsters now, and doing a task in the wrong location would basically waste far more time than if you set up the cannon 1 pixel too much to the right.)

Also I do not feel that it is necessary to list all the math he did. People just need to know that you should be turmoiling your task rather than doing it without prayer at all, so on and so forth. I don't really see a very good reason to list combat level/LP per monster/slayer xp per monster of a task for the time being. Also since this guide was not originally intended for a guy to work from very low to 99 slayer and get 99 summoning on the way (meaning Kuradal only tasks), I don't post charm drop rates. (I even generally assume you use a steel titan in your tasks.)

Edit- so then your guide is for those who slay incorrectly? got it.

and yes I said his guide is older. But most, maybe near all, is great info. You can drop the defensive for one sentence and agree with that. Furthermore, whether spots change or not cannon placement is huge and you state "put your cannon down and fire away", basically.

I'm not getting into this, from your response you do not want any constructive criticism and I was completely wrong, and therefore this will just turn into a flameing.

I accept criticism as I have before all those posts. I'm not going to flame you for stating your opinion. I'm not going to be mad unless you start stating that this guide sucks for no reason at all, or start insulting me, and you have done neither.

Why would my guide be for people that slay incorrectly? Because it's for somebody with 99 summoning? People do slayer past 99, I'm sure.

Zarfot's guide is very good. I completely agree with you... it's the best I've seen so far. But it's the reason why I wanted to create this guide... Because the information is outdated in places. (I'm not kidding, this was literally my original reason for making this guide.) I was trying to slay better, but there are new creatures and methods and ideas that are not mentioned on his guide.

Regarding to the cannon placement, it is to my knowledge that it indeed doesn't matter that much for some tasks. Common sense says that when in doubt, put it in the center of the room. This doesn't apply to every task, so I've tried to put pictures for some of the spots to put down the cannon. There is a difference between randomly putting down the cannon and setting it in a good area, but I'm not sure if setting it up in the correct pixel will make a huge difference. HAVING SAID THAT, I would like to put that info down in future version of the guide.

If you have tips and tricks and ideas not mentioned here or maybe even Zarfot's guide, I'd be more than happy to receive it and add it to a future version of the guide.

Or you could post something constructive?

Slayer is nowhere near as complex as you think. It's actually really simple: kill stuff ASAP. Everything there is to the skill is: kill as many lifepoints worth of monsters you can per unit of time.
