tyrcian
Just wondering what it would be like if runescape went retail with much better graphics etc? You reckon it would feel the same? Better or Worse? What do you think?
moopymitchell182
i like the "plain" graphics... if you want better graphics, world of warcraft is a great option. i believe wow is more pvp based, but it is still very similar to runescape. you also have to pay $50 for the disc to download the 4gb (or so) of stuff to your computer, plus an additional $15 a month to continue playing it. im happy with runescape, even though the community pretty much sucks. Evilperson
I think runescape needs to pull a guild wars and have you buy the initial program, but then be able to play for free. Im sure it would speed up the playing Everybody lovin' it, but ain't no body touchin' it
LordSoultar
i like the "plain" graphics... Exactly. Alot of the "good" games these days are all graphics and almost no storyline and gameplay.
tyrcian
I agree, although I do think Jagex are kinda getting to the limit of what they can achieve. And also I've never liked the look of WOW, dont know why but the ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã10 a month or whatever it is seems to much. Runescape is awesome and I would definately stick with it. Alot of games are graphics based nowadays thats why I like (for d&d games) the BG type of interface rather than the 3d work of NWN. I think people need to start a fresh designing games only taking graphics into account when it is needed. I dont want games to look realistic as hell, because it costs money for updates to my graphics card and also I dont want the gaming world to slip into a world of life like simulations. Keep posting. :) Thanks for not saying that im wishing RS3 would come along because im not
tewas
i rather stick with this version. the thing is that now i can launch RS any time and also do something else on my computer, if they go to retail, then i will need to start game that takes full screen, not what i would love to do with rs :) also paying additional money just for graphics? no thanks but in other side, maybe most of junk from comunity would go there, leaving world free from nonsense :) 1500+ total 89 cmb; 1600+ total and under 93 cmb. 02/04/07 reached all skills 60+ under lvl 90 cmb. 07/19/07 reached all skills 70+ at lvl 93 cmb.Prayer is good for herbs

TeeBeaun
the appeal of runescape is so you can play it from anywhere, i go to work and play it, in my dorm i play it, in class i can play it...shhhh. Dosnt matter as long as your computer has been made in the last 5 years it plays it no problems.
kevinyang222
Some people at my school are obsessed with Maplestory. Cheeky little Korean with only one skill (BEATING THE * OUT OF CUTE LITTLE ANIME CREATURES) Seems like a simpleminded game. Highly time consuming as well. It's a button-masher, only cuter. Minimal? Actually they get Monumental updates every few months, and holiday items. The staff even routinely communicates with players and implements suggestions made by the community. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. Indizle
I play Maple Story and Runescape, and each has its own appeals. Maple story I like because of 2-D graphics and the sidescroller aspect (im a fan or 2-D sidescrollers), and I feel that the combat is pretty involved, something I prefer over the right click, attack, wait as you automatically kill each monster combat of RS (not saying its not intense in RS, as you have to monitor your health and whatnot, but I still wanna time my own swings and stuff). Also, I really like the way jobs are spilt up, so that you are forced to live with your choices making each one more important. Also, I like the hotkeys you can assign; makes stuff like using potions and whatnot very easy. Not to mention that its f2p (except for Cash Shop items which don't give a real advantage but look great). Not to mention the fact that they have a built in system to transfer items between the three characters an account can have. However, I dislike the fact that there are not player versus player areas, and that there are no "non-combat" skills. In RS, I love the fact that you can go PvP, have skills like mining and whatnot to make your own goods, and that its browser based and not full screen...makes it easier to switch back and forth between programs and whatnot. Also, it has a nice...charm...My character feels more like me since there are more ways to customize the actual character I play. Also, i have the freedom to make more than three characters, but sadly I cannot have them interact with one another (its a shame, since I have a hard time training newbie mages and rangers using the 25 gp and paltry runes/arrows I have to start with). Additionally, I enjoy the rune system of magic over the typical MP system...its very unique and easy to use! Also, I am really glad that the quests are more involved than just collecting X number of this drop or getting this letter to Y NPC...although I just started and the quests MAY get more involved in Maple Story. And while I do not blame or disagree with Jagex at all, it is a disadvantage of RS that the f2p version is limited. Still, the full version is pretty cheap, but still a distinction to note. Overall, I'd recommend both games. Both are fun in their own right :)
