Uses for dominion tower items

Featured Replies

I unlocked dreadnips, goliath gloves, and spellcaster gloves today (Still need to track down the pest queen) and was wondering about best uses. Obviously the gloves provide the highest bonuses in their respective categories, so I should use those all the time, and goliath gloves are great for waterfiends, but are there other uses? How about dreadnips, should I just use them for everday slaying to speed things up? Do dreadnips work in the fight caves? Against Jad?

Goliath Gloves can replace the barrow gloves if you don't mind the degradation (higher stats)

Swift Gloves, whenever you range.

I only use Dreadnips on Dragon tasks/long tasks, corp, bandos etc

Spellcaster Gloves... useless?

Spellcasters are totally useless, don't buy them (ok, looks maybe?).

Dreadnips will hit tormented demons through protect prayers and glacors while the glacytes are up, but they have low dps. I wouldn't bother for slayer, except for mithril dragons, maybe steel.

Goliaths are crucial for solo corp.

Swifts are a good switch for Nex along with goliaths, too.

Dreadnips don't hit through a td's melee prayer. It also activates the melee prayer if it does more than 305 damage. Dreadnips don't work on glacors anymore.

So much for nerfing dreadnips :(. Guess you can stop using those then :P.

They're still very useful on QBD, GWD bosses, Corporeal beast etc.

I use dreadnips on the KBD and they're normally good for ~750 damage a kill including poison damage. Basically they're worth using if you have them on any boss as long as you can do it without deploying them interfering with other combat actions. And yes they work on jad.

Besides that spellcaster gloves are useless (+2 magic bonus over Goliath's iirc). Goliath's are for wyverns, waterfiends, corp, and not worth it for slayer (time taken to get them isn't justified by the increase in kill speed) unless you have excess of them from hunting the pest queen/finishing DT achievements.

Swift gloves with dragonbane bolts are on par with melee for frost dragons from what I've read and they're supposedly one of the best methods for the qbd.

Armadyl Drops : 4 Hilts; 3 Chestplates; 2 Chainskirts; 1 Helmet; 1 Buckler; 2 Shard 1; 2 Shard 2; 1 Shard 3

Nex : 1 Zaryte Bow

Kalphite King : 1 Drygore Rapier ; 1 Drygore Longsword : 1 Drygore Offhand Rapier : 1 Drygore Offhand Longsword

The main real use for goliaths and especially swifts, is PVP. I personally get about 15 gloves/hour, which puts goliaths at 1.5m/hour value in place of barrows, plus the extra stats really mean a lot in pvp, especially for high risks.

Swifts allow you occasionally fire 2 bolts at once, giving you the potential to hit over 990 with every attack. (The 2nd bolt won't be an enchanted bolt)

Seeing as you are not max combat, goliaths are definitely worth your time for things like slayer as the combat experience from unlocking them in climber is very good. So instead of wasting ~4 minutes to get a ~2% damage increase for ~6 hours, you're spending ~4 minutes to get ~8k xp and a ~2% damage increase for ~6 hours. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!!!

Not even for the slightly-higher-than-goliaths magic attack bonus?

No

Don't forget 1 pair of spellcaster means 1 pair of goliaths not bought ;). And +2 attack is even less worth it than +2 attack & +1 strength from goliaths.

Spellcasters are good for Glacors if you soa/poly the glacytes rather than meleeing them.
