Solvent abuse

I'd just like to add that wikipedia shows that there have been ZERO proven cases of cannabis causing death. There has been something like 2 disputed ones. The world over.

So they aren̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t counting related deaths? In that case cigarettes haven't directly caused deaths either. Stating this fact is a smokescreen, every death in the world can be related to some sort of cause. Would it surprise you that 87% of American Lung Cancer patients smoke?

This is from a anti ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹Ãâwar on drugs̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ group̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s website ([link]http://www.drugpolicy.org/marijuana/factsmyths/[/link]):

̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅMYTH: MARIJUANA IS MORE DAMAGING TO THE LUNGS THAN TOBACCO. Marijuana smokers are at a high risk of developing lung cancer, bronchitis, and emphysema.

FACT: Moderate smoking of marijuana appears to pose minimal danger to the lungs. Like tobacco smoke, marijuana smoke contains a number of irritants and carcinogens. But marijuana users typically smoke much less often than tobacco smokers, and over time, inhale much less smoke. As a result, the risk of serious lung damage should be lower in marijuana smokers. There have been no reports of lung cancer related solely to marijuana. However, because researchers have found precancerous changes in cells taken from the lungs of heavy marijuana smokers, the possibility of lung cancer from marijuana cannot be ruled out. Unlike heavy tobacco smokers, heavy marijuana smokers exhibit no obstruction of the lung's small airway. That indicates that people will not develop emphysema from smoking marijuana.̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ

I would just like to point out that the people that "bash" marijuana must watch way too many "Above the influence" commercials.(Sp:roll:)

They are probably posting this as their parents smoke a pack a day.

Now I am not sure how many cigs are in a pack, I think its like 20. (I don't do them myself so I don't know). According to certain statistics I have read from trustworthy sources (IE Truth.com) they say one "Joint" is equal to 5 cigarettes. This would mean you would have to smoke 4 joints a day to equal a pack. I do not know anyone in their stable state of mind who can afford that OR wants to do that. From personal experience I know you would have to try pretty hard to smoke that much marijuana in one day.

Now I am not saying that it is harmless (for i know that LONG term effects are probably similar to cigarrettes), but I am going to say it has no addictive elements to it, so it is impossible to physically get hooked on it.

Now back on the original topic:

Drugs are bad.

Marijuana is not a drug since it has been proven to help cases of chronic illnesses. It is all natural.

So you are smart enough to disagree with 25+ years worth of dealing with marijuana addicts? Marijuana is addicting...people just use it passively and it takes 30 days for it to fully leave your body and therefore the effects of withdrawl are rarely felt.

Is it a strong addiction? No. But it is addicting. To say its impossible to get hooked is a downright lie.

Also, marijuana is not a drug since it helps chronic illnesses? What about prescription drugs? They help illnesses. Silly boy, that's what drugs do! They help illnesses. The difference is whether or not you get them legally...I think you discredited yourself completely by saying that marijuana is not a drug because it helps cases of chronic illness.

So drugs you take for other sickness such as the flu or cancer are not drugs? They are only called perscription drugs to fool people? Seriously...I'm laughing out loud...

I have just one thing to say. Sure (never tried it, nor plan to) marajuan give a high that feels "good". But is it worth the money? Why not do something else to fell "good" that dosent have as much money, like not even a drug, and still get the same satisfaction?

Alduron: I'm not going to argue against anything you've said, but i can tell from the way you phrase things that you are one of the people i mentioned who views marijuana as being on the same plateau as things like Heroin and Cocaine. Only someone with that attitude could describe the process of smoking a joint as "doing marijuana". I've learned that i can't change the views of that kind of person, so i won't bother.

As far as the kids suicide you spoke about, you said their parents had no idea they had problems, and no idea they smoked weed. Which do you think caused them to kill themselves? People like you (and probably the parents of the children involved) will look straight past the problems that child may have had, and say "it's those evil drugs that caused him to kill himself". Chances are the kids probably tried smoking weed as an escape from their problems - it didn't work, so they committed suicide. They didn't commit suicide because they started smoking weed!

Once again, i'll make the point that i know the health risks involved. Nobody needs to drum that in to me, i'm well aware of it. What i will not accept is the far fetched ideas that are being thrown around in this thread - not every person that smokes a joint is going to end up dead in 5 years (for the record i've been smoking since i was 16, so i'm 2 years overdue to meet my maker, right?). Not everyone that smokes a joint is going to "behave irresponsibly" and injure people around them, and not everyone that smokes weed is going to take their own life because of the drug.

Just out of interest, do you drink coffee? Alcohol? I'm not trying to compare them to marijuana, i'd just be very surprised if someone who has as strict an attitude towards things that pollute your body as you do, had ever even tried those 2 substances.

if u get depressed after having no weed for a while you should see a doctor

weed has no mental addiction only a mild physical addiction

Truth. Marijuana is not chemically addictive, which means you're just as likely to become addicted to watching a tv show or playing a game (how many people replying to this topic spend hours on RS every day?).

Edit: Before anyone jumps down my throat, i'm not saying that watching tv and playing games are as bad for your health as smoking marijuana, i'm merely comparing the adictiveness.

Read what he said Rizla, you're contradicting him. He's saying it is only chemically and not psychologically. Which is wrong.
