Barraging skelital monkeys in max mage I would assume is the most efficient :P

Mage void I would assume is also good :P

If you don't have void you can replace the virtus with ahrim and the chaotic with a staff of light. The only annoying thing is repairing it once in a while.

The main idea of it is just getting the highest magic attack bonus that you can afford, Defence don't matter as much because you will be protecting mele

Glacors are the best magic xp/hour when you factor in time saved.

The fight kiln is also extremely productive.

The next best is killing ganodermic beasts.

Low alching/superheating while fishing/mining is the most productive if your goal is to max out.

Basically, you should never have to set out to train magic.

Basically this, but with a soul wars cape for added staying power. Virtus and cstaff have very bad xp/hr increases considering how much they cost. Ahrim's + Akrisae's hood is usually better.

Hedgehog is also right that cost probably is an issue, so you should look into some efficient methods (which happen to be highly profitable as well).

Again, Q's logic is amazing advice for more reasons than she says. Hedge has a point here, getting glacors gives you many lamps if you haven't done the quests yet for them, plus gives a decent amount of charms, mage xp, and cashflow especially if you get a decent drop while doing them. :)

Overall, making cash and then just spending it all on doing something efficiently is a great idea for any training. haha

Isn't a fury better than arcane stream? - considering the dmg bonus only applies to the main target?

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

With +7 mage level, sol, augury, ice barrage:

Arcstream:

Primary target: 300 * 1.3 * 1.21 = 471

Secondary targets: 300 each

Average damage/cast (100% accuracy, 9 targets) = (2400+471)/2 = 1435.5

+20 prayer (Soul Wars cape, Akrisae's hood, arcane spirit shield), 10 * 30/50 prayer drain = 6 points/second

Fury:

Primary target: 300 * 1.15 * 1.21 = 417

Secondary targets: 300 each

Average damage/cast (100% accuracy, 9 targets) = (2400+417)/2 = 1408.5

+25 prayer, 10 * 30/55 prayer drain = 5,4545 (recurring) points/second.

With renewals, no flasks, you get 14-15 ppots + 3 renewals per hour with arcstream, about 13 ppots + 3 renewals per hour with fury. You also need wolper scrolls, antipoison, 3 slots for runes and a teleport would be nice (but you can easily use tokkul-zo). So out of the 23 spaces left for pots, you can fill about 85 or 90 minutes worth, but you need a second wolper pouch, so make that 80 or 85 minutes/trip. You save one bank trip every 1360 minutes using fury over arcstream.

So you get the choice of saving, say, 4 minutes, every 1360 minutes, or getting (1435.5*.2+52)/(1408.5*.2+52) = 1.6% higher xp/hr. Over 1360 minutes, 1.6% is 21 minutes worth.

So no, fury isn't better, but the difference isn't incredible.

Edit: Akrisae's hood has +4 prayer, cba redoing calcs but there you go :P.
