Broad bolts cannot be tipped, Runites can, but tipping, and subsequently enchanting bolts makes its tier, and hence its Crossbow requirement shoot up like a comet.

I use royal bolts. They are cheap and they hit hard, but you need a Royal Crossbow or Chaotics to use them.

Combine the 4 parts (which you get from either qbd or grand exchange for like 4m ish total) with the coral crossbow. To complete it, you gotta "charge" it with qbd extreme fire while standing in the middle during 4th phase. Lasts for 10 hours, to recharge it just go to qbd again. It's 2handed.

That's the exact reason why I don't use Royal crossbows, expensive, and you have to practically kill the damn dragon to recharge it.

 

I use Black Salamander, does the job, cheap to replace and absolutely dirt cheap ammo.

This. 4m is far from expensive, and it took me 10 min to make the crossbow from scratch buying the parts in ge and charging it at qbd...

 

Something to notice here: royal crossbow + royal bolts have the same dmg as chaotic maul. So my advice would be to get the crossbow now while people are ignorant of how eoc works and the price remains dirt low... (same applies to bgs, dharok, and other equipment that are the best in their respective types).

Except Black salamander is T70, and the ammo is so cheap i practically have to play for months straight doing nothing but shooting tars on auto attack for the cost to even start approach Royal crossbows.

 

I was using expensive in relative terms, I was comparing a weapon costing millions to something that barely costs 200gp

Get a black salamander, costs 170 gp and harralander tar costs 35gp ea. Hits like a truck; 927 weapon damage (average speed) and 672 damage from the tar.

This also means you are making money 14% slower with the black salamander. The royal crossbow's extra damage and accuracy will easily pay for itself and then you'll have the best 2h ranged weapon. Easily worth the meager 4m price tag, and the minor challenge of a qbd kill.

 

Edit: What's the break rate on bolts with accumulator? Last I checked royal bolts were around 3 times the price of harallander tar so they might actually be cheaper per shot if the break rate is 1 in 3 or lower which I don't find too hard to believe.
