How to get around filters and play RS at school?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of working proxys or methods to get around blocks so i can play rs while being at school?

I have my own laptop that the school has given to me so im fine to download programs to use and stuff, just wondering if anyone had an idea of how to do it.

i myself own quite a few vps servers (and i dont really use a couple) so i installed a desktop environment on one and whenever im at school i just use a web based vnc client to connect and play

as for proxy sites.. i just used to copy paste a bunch of sites into a text file and then check em 1 by 1

Kinda understood the first part, could you explain it a bit further and whether its simple or not?

Would downloading the client to another computer, then installing it on yours work?

No, because the game needs to be able to connect to runescape.com to work.

Honestly, don't bother. Just do your school work at school. Don't risk getting your computer rights revoked or getting detention just to play a game.

Its not the fact i overule it over my school work, its just that i have so much free time during school (flexy's and what not) that i have nothing to do so i just wanted to find out a way to play it while at school.

Something worth trying might be loading up 'scape at home, then logging in at school, not guaranteed that this will work, as I haven't tried it, no blocking on this college's computers. :twss:

I have used Ultrasurf in the past to get around school webpage blocks at school, and I know for a fact that it worked for RuneScape back when I was in high school.

So?

There's a million proxies. Though if your schools half competent the majority of them will be blocked and any you get ahold of would be blocked promptly.

Could try https, but again, if they're half competent that's already dealt with.

You could try remote accessing your desktop at home from the school, but I doubt the school wouldn't have implemented something to prevent that, unless they're incompetent.

My suggestion, get a deck of cards and play a game with irl friends FFS.

And by "deck of cards" I don't mean magic the gathering <--- One of the biggest most genius money schemes i've ever seen in my life.

I mean a normal deck of sodding cards you would play BS or Texas hold'em or some other game with.

BS is especially fun but it's always fun to mix up what you play.

Proxies may work if only HTTP traffic is filtered, but the applet will still run on your machine and I do not believe Java will use most HTTP proxies(at least for non-HTTP content), meaning that the applet needs to be able to establish a direct connection to the game servers.

My old school had fairly strict filtering in place, but I was able to run SSH to port 443. I used SSHuttle with a VPS in Chicago, but I don't think that supports Windows.

In order to circumvent filters, you should to know what is filtered (and some idea of how doesn't hurt); I'd suggest starting with a little digital reconnaissance.

EDIT: This may be more suited to T&C.

All i have to do is throw a "s" after the http for it work on my school laptop

Anyone got any other ideas? :(

Play dungeons and dragons over the table with friends? :3

Honestly if none of that worked, you're at a loss then.

Unless you can find a new proxy the school hasn't blocked, it's geegee.

So srsly. BS, really fun game bruh.

If only i wasn't alone in my love for runescape ahaa, thinking bout doing the vps server thing just gotta figure out how to. :/

Unless you're willing to learn Linux, or buy a VPS.

I think this might be your best bet.

The issue is you'll need a laptop, because a school computer probably won't let you install anything.

So this is saying i coulda used hamachi which is a program i already have at home this whole entiretime! D:

If you have the template for it, when we were in school make a webpage in word with the rs page on it, then view it as a webpage in word itself and that got around most blocks. Dunno if schools have caught up to that.
