AHH THE Itchy Shingles!!!!!!!

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever gotten Shingles? Basically what it is is a reencarnation of the Chicken Pox.

If you search Google, you'll see some nasty pics...mine isn't NEARLY that bad. Just a patch of red scabby looking things that itch like none other.

Mine is right in the middle of my back. It itches, but at the same time, it feels like someone stabbing me in the back with a million tiny needles. It really bites the dust, lemme tell ya.

I went to the doctor and he comfirmed it was Shingles. He said that doctors don't know how it comes about...it is not contagious unless you haven't had Chicken Pox before. Moreover...there is no cure. He basically said that if the pain gets to be unbearable, then he can prescribe me some pain medication, but it isn't too bad. I have been going to school since it isn't exposed.

Has anyone else gotten it? How long did it take before it was gone, or at least, not as ANNOYING.

There's no cure because it's caused by a virus that hides in your nervous system and comes out at an opportune moment, like if your immune system is down (not enough sleep, run down, partying, unhealthy habits, etc.). Can't kill viruses easily. Doesn't mean you did any of this, but yeah that's what causes it to come out.

Haven't had it happen to me, but it sounds pretty uncomfortable.

The problem arises if you are not immune to it when you get older. Especially in adult males. I say this because theres a certain body part that males have than can get pretty nasty with chicken pox. >.<

jabraulter you are lucky you seeked medical attention early. If two shingles spread and join to one you will die.
