I'm only 4 levels off 75 Construction, after which I wouldn't mind dumping a few mil into prayer. However I have no clue how to efficiently run bones. Anyone care to give me a quick run down on how to do this properly?

1) Take bob and invent full of bones to altar tht is directly next to house portal

2) Light burners

3) Offer bones

4) tele to a bank, tele to house

5) Rinse and repeat

 

for maximum efficiency you wanna use the house party world and utilise other people's houses as houses that already have someone inside load faster.

don't forget you can get a tea in there that is +3 cons if your priority is prayer, saving you piling as much in to cons, you may want the cons for other reasons though

Also if you put a mounted glory on the wall in the room right next to your alter room it is faster to tele back to edge to load back up on bones.

I guess I've been playing too long. Some of my methods are outdated now :-/

I really like my mounted glory when I did my 99 prayer. But there are many other options yes.

But just to be clear the mounted glory is definitely faster than a ring of kinship. especially how close mine is to my alter. If you orient the rooms correctly it is very close to the alter.

For this reason alone I only ever did my altaring in my own home. You can tele straight in easily light the fires and tele back to your bank. Feel free to offer your house to others in an attempt to save some time with the loading, but I found it is easier to do by yourself because I can count on the burners if I lite them each time I come into my house, but if they were already burning they can easily go our without you realizing resulting in a loss of xp.

If using a glory, teleport to al-kharid not edge. Al-kharid's teleport puts you in shantasy pass where you can one click bank then refill and be on your way. much faster and efficient - also not many people go there so it'll be easier to determine which is your bob

Wouldn't it be slightly faster not to bother with a BoB and just use a preset bank tab?

 

When I got 99 a year or two ago I teleported between the GE and my house. Granted, it probably wasn't the most efficient option even back then, but it got the job done none the less. As I was semi-AFK (watching movies as the bones were offered) I wasn't too concerned with maximum efficiency anyways.

 

I chose the GE because the bank there is one-click and is visible from where your teleport arrives, and so that I could check on the items I was merching if needs be. I had oriented my chapel so that it was located in a similar position to the house teleport arrival as the GE bank was located to the GE teleport arrival - didn't even have to rotate the camera.

 

I carried a lava staff and loaded my inventory with a stack of marrentils, a stack of law runes and a stack of air runes. The other 25 spaces were dragon bones. Teleport to house, open door, light burners, offer bones, teleport to GE, bank, rinse and repeat.

 

Again, this is likely not very efficient nowadays.

Those bones in the bob bump up the bones per hour quite significantly - after all don't forget even with just a tort you are pretty much doubling your inventory which means 1/2 as many bank trips.

I only wish someone would have told me that before I went and got 99 prayer like that. Guess I'll just have to start over and do it the 'good' way around this time. ;-)

 

In all seriousness, I did say that this method likely wasn't very efficient even back then, let alone now. Whether it's 'bad', however, that depends on your perspective. From the perspective of maximizing efficiency and experience it's bad, yeah... But like I said, I wasn't too concerned with that. It got me to 99 without having to pay too much attention, and that's what matters to me.

 

It was not my intention to call into question the use of a BoB, only I'd no idea how bank presets affected them.

 

Even if my post only served to showcase how to absolutely, positively not altar bones efficiently, it has served its purpose.

Also using a bonecrusher on all slayer tasks/combat will help you out a lot, since its free prayer xp :)

 

Edit: For tele, use tokkul zo!! By far, by FAR the best tele method. Saves and inventory slot and its the fastest bank to teleport to.

Wear tokkul zo, place it on #3 on your action bar. Then, you just have to press 3 twice to tele to a bank.
