Singer Chris Martin dropped the bombshell at the Brits - as they won awards for best single and best album. The star, hinting the break would be temporary, said as he picked up the second gong: "This means so much to us, especially now. It's going to be a few years before you see us again." And Chris, 28, added: "People are fed up with us - and so are we." Mates say he is breaking up the band, famed for worldwide hits Yellow and Speed of Sound, to spend more time with wife Gwyneth Paltrow - expecting their second baby in April. The singer later told Brits host Chris Evans, who had a self-imposed TV exile: "You had a break, so are we." The four-piece group met at university in London in 1997 and landed a record deal two years later. They have recorded three award-winning albums: Parachutes, A Rush of Blood to the Head and X&Y. Or would it be really true that we won't hear much from the next couple of years and come back with a decent album that can top the first two, after their last piece of trash that they called an album. The quote at the Brits has been "misinterperated". Their record company seems to think they'll be back in the studio "soon", but I think the band just feels like they need time off, so they won't grow stale. I appreciate they are good at what they do...ofcourse. I love Coldplay after seeing them live and being fantastic. May be we were at the same place :). But it wasn't raining. And they were great, and everyone was happy. I doubt they're splitting up. They're just taking a break for a while. Retired from Runescape and the OoC. I think its much better for them to burn out than to fade into the rest of the pap you see on top of the pops. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be. There was still hope in our hearts :P David Gilmour announced lately he'll be starting his solo carreer, that's what I mean by the final split up. I don't really care that much about Pink Floyd splitting up. They're from the past, I'm not going to 'mourn' about a bunch of 60 year olds splitting up; they don't have the future.
