February 28, 200620 yr I was recently reading this site and it mentioned many interesting numbers in the real world. I thought I'd make a similar article on RuneScape. Anyways, here is a list of interesting numbers in the world of RuneScape. Have fun! 1 This is the lowest level monsters can have. 3 This is the combat level that players start at. This number is also the smallest Mersenne prime. 5 Players need level 5 attack or defense to use steel weapons and armor, respectively. This number is also the second Fermat prime. 18 The number of free-version quests on RuneScape 2 as of February 2006. 32 The number of quest points required to enter the Champions' Guild. Players who want to enter the Cooks' Guild need level 32 cooking. 60 Players need level 60 attack or defense to use dragon weapons or armor, respectively. 85 Being level 85 in certain skills has different meanings. Level 85 miners can mine rune, which can be smithed by level 85 smithers. Players with level 85 slayer can kill abyssal demons. These demons drop abyssal whips, which are prized weapons. At level 85, players are one-fourth of the way to level 99. 92 Greater demons, the strongest monsters on the free version of RuneScape 2, are level 92. 99 This is the highest level an individual skill can reach. Players often consider getting a level 99 skill an honorable achievement. 100 Many players consider reaching level 100 combat a major milestone. Free-version players can have up to 100 names on their friend lists. 123 This is the highest combat level RuneScape Classic players can reach. 126 This is the highest combat level RuneScape 2 players can reach. 200 Paying members can have up to 200 names on their friend lists. 245 The level of the RuneScape Classic version of the King Black Dragon. This monster is the strongest NPC on RuneScape Classic. 702 TzTok-Jad, the strongest monster on RuneScape 2, is level 702. It can kill most players in one hit. 1000 For newer players, reaching 1000 skill total is considered a good achievement. 1782 The highest possible skill total on RuneScape Classic. 2000 This is the maximum number of players that can be on a RuneScape 2 server at once. 2079 The highest possible skill total on RuneScape 2. 5000 The approximate number of players caught in RuneScape Classic's largest mass ban as of February 2006. 15000 The approximate number of players caught in RuneScape 2's largest mass ban as of February 2006. 65535 A very long time ago, due to programming limits, players could only hold up to 65535 of one item in one stack. If they had more, a second stack of items would be created in the inventory. 185000 The approximate record number of players online, as of February 2006. 500000 The approximate number of playing members, as of November 2005. 2000000 The approximate number of accounts as of early 2002. 5000000 This is my very rough estimate of the number of tiles in RuneScape 2. 13034431 The experience required to reach level 99 in a skill. 13034431 is also prime. 100000000 The odds of getting two dragon chain mails in a row, assuming that dust devils drop then at 1/10000 rate. 445000000000 The estimated amount of gold pieces in RuneScape as of September 2005. 515000000000 A rough approximation of the number of possible treasure trail paths. This is based on the assumption that there are around 220 clues, and that each trail is five clues long on the average. 10^12 My low estimate of the total experience in RuneScape. 10^13 My high estimate of the total experience in RuneScape. 10^40 The approximate odds against a player getting 10 dragon chains in a row from dust devils. This is based on the assumption that dust devils drop dragon chains at 1/10000 rate. 2.39 x 10^400 A very rough approximation of the odds against a level 4 killing a greater demon without taking a hit. This is assuming that the newbie hits at a 1/200 chance, and the demon misses at a 1/200 chance. 4.48 x 10^1927 The odds against a level defeating Dagannoth Rex without getting hit, assuming no interference. This is assuming that the newbie has a 1/800 chance of hitting, and Dagannoth Rex having a 1/800 chance of missing. 3.53 x 10^795690 A rough approximation of the odds that 185000 online players will get a strange box in the same second. I'm estimating that in any one second, a player has a 1/20000 chance of getting a strange box. 2.82 x 10^1239309 The approximate odds that 185000 online players will get a mime at the same second, assuming that the odds of getting a mime in one second is 1/500000. 10^10^10^10^10 The odds against RuneScape Classic being updated. [nitpicky mathematician] Fermat Primes are primes of the form 2^(2^n)+1, for n a non-negative integer. Thus n=0 => 2^(2^0)+1 = 2+1 = 3, so technically 3 is the first Fermat prime. [/nitpicky mathematician] Good list though, I like it :)!

March 1, 200620 yr Nicely done, I liked it. True some of the bigger numbers have a lot of things assumed, but they were still cool to think about. The RS classic line made me laugh, good stuff.
