April 21, 200620 yr You all need to chill out a lil bit, complaining isn't going to do anything. Just deal with it, and maybe things won't be all that bad. Why you worrying bout it anyway, its just a game, play it. Your right, the point is to have fun, if your gonna complain to jagex way to stop people from making massive ammounts of cash off their game, where is the fun in that. Quit worrying about it, and have fun.
April 21, 200620 yr Its probably not the most effective measure they could of implemented to stop the increasing f2p rune ess macroers. Though they would have other motives behind it. These measures will definitely get more macroers joining P2P and once banned they will need to repay the money on another account. I doubt however, after a few of their (the macroers) accounts in P2P are banned would they stick with being a member.
April 21, 200620 yr i admit that a lot of legit players will lose a lot of gp due to this update. but, as in real life, moneymaking is based on adaptability. you have to be willing to change to compensate for the fluidity of the market to make it, as well as willing to work hard. macroers are a big problem and if this update helps to combat the problem, then im all for it.
April 21, 200620 yr if macroers are so bent on continuing to mess up the game for the rest of us, then its probably true that jagex might have to do more segregation. if cutting down the ess autoers means an increase in yew autoers, for example, then its likely that jagex will have to change f2p yews so they can only be burned, making them totally worthless to p2p members who buy yews for fletching. this will totally kill the wc industry. but, its a reaction to the problem of autoers, and jagex reserves the right to do something about it theres a lot of complaining about the negative effects of the update, but nobody is recognizing this as backlash of the autoers and rule breakers. this update was necessary as a pretty effective deterrent to ess mining bot accounts. since a level 3 f2p can mine ess all day within a few minutes of getting off tutorial island, these autoers have no risk and nothing to lose if their noob miner gets banned. having to pay for membership and get 30 in mining takes away the risk-free appeal of autoing. autoers have a lot more to lose. not only that, but members worlds are much more heavily monitored by mods and security scripts, and most autoers that try to ess mine as a member under the new system will be cuaght and banned before they can make back their $5 log in to any f2p world and walk around the forest between lumbridge and draynor. youll see dozens of level 3 accounts in default green shirts and bald heads chopping regular or oak logs and dropping them. just yesterday a spirit tree killed one and i picked up about 20 yew logs. jagex is very intent on deterring rule breakers as of lately (like the last 4-5 months), and it is increasingly apparent that the yew cutters are next in line on the chopping board as far as the economy goes, tough luck. i'm pretty much self sufficient, but im not saying that everybody else should be. but at the same time, yew (or ess) buyers shouldnt have to become dependent on the autoers supplying materials for cheap. depending on autoers to help support the economy is not a good idea, because when jagex yanks them, the economy collapses. yet it is jagex's duty to pull these rule-breakers out, so i dont think anybody has a right to complain at all Are you a member with a full bank and cancelling your subscription? April 21, 200620 yr The amount of macroers on any other skill can never be as bad as rune ess mining was simply because it is so easy to get started on ess mining. All that is needed is to complete the tutorial and one easy quest and youre ready to mine whereas other skills such as yew cutting require a decent skill level to do. The problem with ess mining was that macroers could create accounts and start mining ess with them far quicker than Jagex could ban them resulting in huge numbers of macroers. With macroers who are working on yew cuttin they will be able to spend less total time actually cutting yews before they are banned and more time cutting relatively worthless normal logs for training. In my opinion the people who have lost out the most are those who were unwittingly buying essence from the macroers. They have lost out as a result of the macroers being removed from ess mining and not from the fact that ess has been split into two sorts. RSN: Ste_Boz
April 21, 200620 yr It could be just me, but I never saw runescape as being a trading game. If you keep your levels roughly equivalent there is no reason why you can't be almost wholly self-sufficient. Sure it makes more money if you concentrate on crafting nats while buying your essence of an f2p autoer, but what is the point of making money? To buy a phat? As I said, it's probably just me, but that doesn't seem like a particularly interesting endpoint to the game. I agree totally with you. I also try to be self-sufficient. In fact the vast majoritory of items in my bank were either produced by me or obtained as drops. The only things in my bank that do not fit this criteria are buckets and fishing gear, which cannot be made at present (although I think you should be able to), Law runes, which I cannot make so I buy them from Magic Guild, and my trusty Rune pickaxe which was the first thing I ever bought in RS as a p2p (its been with me now for 2 years!!)
April 21, 200620 yr The thing is, ess still easy as all heck for even legit players to get. So, the price will only raise to about 90 ea, at the VERY FREAKIN MOST. It's SOO much easier to get than iron, and would sell for almost the same price there, so, more people would go there for money. After more people go there for money, the price will drop a bit... then it will stabalize and things will be back to normal. Just give it a week or so, and things will be almost normal again.
