The brothers own 79% of their company, Jagex, whose ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã2.7m profit on ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã5.2m sales in 2005 values it at ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã40m.

By popular demand, this signature is back- however I currently do not have a blog up at the moment and if I did I wouldn't update it. Sorry, the sig links to nowhere :( .

It turns out that the remaining 21% is owned by Constant Tedder, the third founder of jagex (not confirmed).

Really i see a conversation like this...

Andres: 29 million 200 thousand one hundred 23, 29 million 200 thousand one hundred 24

Paul: Andrew mate we have lots of complaints about macroes what you wanna do

Andrew: Dammit paul i lost count how many times to i have to tell you to not interrupt me with this rubbish while im counting our money.

lol thats great i actually laughed out loud at that one

Jagex Software was founded in November 1999 by Andrew Gower, Paul Gower, and Constant Tedder and became Jagex Ltd. in December 2001.

IIRC, Constant was the CEO of Jagex, so if that is true, its highly possible he owns that 21% of the company.

That is insane.

99 Runecraft - 99 Fletching - 99 All Melee's 1800+ Total

Cheaper membership pl0x?

Also, if you check the jobs section on Jagex's corp site, they can pay a motherload of cash.

In case people's wondering how JaGex can make 40m in 3 years of membership time, they don't.

When they say Jagex's worth 40m, they mean JaGex stocks total at 40m market value. IE If the Gowers sold their portion right now, they'll have 73% x 40m of that cash.

But that money's not earnt. The market cap have only indirect relationship to how much revenue JaGex actually earnt. As the article showed, Jagex earnt about $4m revenue for 2005, while their market cap is 40m.

Grats again to Gower brothers for their success!

All I learned in life, I learned on Tip.it

wish i could go back in time and steal the idea lol

Cambridge graduate Andrew invented the popular Runescape game, played online through subscription, which is taking on the sector̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s big beasts such as Sony. He created the role-playing game while at university and then operated it from his bedroom at his parents̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ house in Nottingham. The brothers own 79% of their company, Jagex, whose ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã2.7m profit on ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã5.2m sales in 2005 values it at about ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã40m. With past dividends, the enterprising Gowers are worth ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã32m.

No, as explained earlier in the thread. They're a private company.

In a little hilltop village they gambled for my clothes

I bargained for salvation and they gave me a lethal dose

I offered up my innocence, I got repaid with scorn

"Come in'', she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm"

I dont want to burst the Jagex bubble but the Sunday Times have valued the company on the basis that it is a publicly traded company, which of course Jagex is not.

Jagex is a Private company and as such a more reasonable value of the company is about ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã9M.

The profits quoted by the Sunday Times of ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã2.7M are in relation to the year ended 31 March 2005 and represent a substantial increase in profitability in the first year following the release of RS2.

The profits for the year ended 31 March 2006 will be audited in due course by their BIG Firm Accountants and I suspect their profits will have increased to around ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã4.5M as a result of both increases in subscribers and increases in advertising revenues.

The fact that the accounts of what is a relatively small company are audited by one of the top 5 Accountancy firms in the world is a sure fire sign that their long term strategy is to take the company public, at which time the value of their company will increase to become more in line with the Sunday Times valuation.

i am still #1 jonathon rowland ftw!..lmao i wish tony $2 to my name :)

jagex rocks at rank 10  i wonder if they will get any higher :? game cant last 4 ever :P

thats pretty sweeeeet

Sorry for the off-topicness, but is that the god for Pastafarians? I've heard so much about these cultists/teenagers/people

with that kinda money they need to get us more bank space, better graphics, and pohs finally. cmon

For gods sake STOP ASKING JAGEX TO DO STUFF WITH THEIR MONEY !!!!!!!! they are doing a bloody good job ..... its like asking bill gates to release WNDS VISTA earlier, money has absolutely nothing to do with how soon they will release stuff , BUT they can hire more people to put more work into the updates, thus releasing them faster...
