A useless(ful) tip.

just having a server update, i came to think of this while i was boring myself.

a trick i used some years ago when i took money seriously in this game.

whenever a server goes down it refreshes when it comes up again.

meaning monster drops also refresh.

i used this oppurtunity to be the first at the greater demon drops (being f2p only) and get the rune larges.

so if ur an item hunter, stay near the good monsters next server update,

This makes no sense. it's not as if monsters start by dropping the best items, then the second best, then the worst till a new server update? :/

In a little hilltop village they gambled for my clothes

I bargained for salvation and they gave me a lethal dose

I offered up my innocence, I got repaid with scorn

"Come in'', she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm"

it makes alot of sense.

if you train at GDS or other locations for some hours, you'll find that the same monster never drops the rare item twice in a row, so if u get a rune large, your gonna wait 30-60 mins for the next one, perhaps longer.

this rule is reset when the server refreshes, meaning the rune large the demon dropped 1 min ago is liable to be on the monster again after a server reset, meaning you can in theory gain 2 rune larges in 5 minutes from the same monster, and in theory 4 rune larges in 5 mins , as there are 2 demons ;)

get it ?

I understand what you're saying, i just think it's wrong.

As far as i'm concerned, the way rare drops are worked out on rs is the same as spinning a roulette wheel. The chance of getting a 0 is always 1/37, even if you're juve got a 0.

For what you're saying to be true, the rare system would have to remember where and when rare drops are given out, then calculate another random number basedon that to predetermin when the next drop will be. I can't believe jagex would put in such a complicated system when my version is so much more straightforward.

okay mr scientist, but unless you've exploited this tip, i'd suggest you.................................................................................................. go try it?

if your one of those ppl who can only survive with facts and numbers, well.. im sorry on your behalf

but to put it simpler so even you can fathom it i'll try to explain in a simple way..

1.monster have item.

2.monster drop item

3.server refresh

4.monster have item again instantly, just waiting to drop for you

now go away human, we busy

It's getting boring repeating myself but... i understand exactly what you're suggesting.

And i can only assume you've never tried coding anything?

Your suggestion would be more complicated to code and waste far more database space for no good reason.

Rare drops are random. I thought everyone knew that :P

So you've been lucky after sever refreshes in the past. that doesn't really prove anything, adn the more you believe it the more you'll bend your results to see what you want to from it anyway.

So you're saying that each greater demon only has 1 rune large, and has to wait until the next update to get a new one?

rare drops are random, but so are all other drops, sometimes monster don't drop anything at all.

and i seriously doubt that its pure luck . for the last time, if your not going to put this tip to use and find out yourself, you might wanna post somewhere else, because i know this tip works

That's what is sounded like to me.

Just because the monster just got "updated" doesn't mean it's going to drop it instantly. All monster drops are random.

...I can't believe jagex would put in such a complicated system when my version is so much more straightforward.

I tend to agree with Unitedite.

The most straightforward way of implementing a loot table for a monster

is to assign probabilities for all the items that the monster can drop.

The drop is determined by a random number computed at the time of the

monsters death in conjunction with the preassigned probabilities.

A ring of wealth would just tell the system to use a slightly different loot

table with higher probabilities for the best items (and lower for the rest).

The only "do this to get better loot" scheme that I know of that

might work is the "take more damage to get better loot" strategy.

Even then, if it does work, it's small effect.

But only Jagex really knows for sure.

im not trying to explain the [mod edit: please don't evade the censor] combat system either, im giving a tip that can be put to use, as i've put it to use. what more is there to it?

A few questions.

1) How many times have you tried this?

2) How many times has it worked?

3) Has anybody else noticed this?

4) Has anyone got this result without the server update?

Tried it at least 20 times.

Its worked almost every time after 10-15 minutes.

Dunno if others have mentioned it.

How do you want to get the same result, when the result depends on the server update?

There seems to be something in it.

The last question was to test see if the server update was a coincidence or not.

given your reasonable sample size and your bettter than average results there is either something in it or you dude are one lucky S.o.B.

I'll admit I was a bit sceptical but you appear to have found something here.

Someone else (I forget who), came up with the idea that a certain drop goes to the person who kills the 100th, 50th, 1000th, etc monster. but the numbers are not only for that one person, they are for all of runescape. So, 1st kill gets it, then every (insert number)th kill after that gets it. After a system update, the counts would be set back to one.
