Thats a daft thing to do as it does nothing accept annoy ppl who then comes here and flame and so it escalates.

Its best not to do things like that in the end.

Yeah I think it is pretty immature to be running off to flame a forum, I hate it when I hear my members have plugged my forums while flaming other forums, saying how bad one their forum is and how they should join ours. It's pretty silly and bring all the wrong sort of attention.

That said of "BIG 3 RS Forums" (Tip it, RSC, Rune HQ) I'd say that tip it is probably the most laid back, which is a good thing in some ways but at the same time isn't always the best thing when your members get a little wild.

No problem, I really did the study to find out where my own forums (Runescape Boards) stood in relation to everyone else, but I figured if I was going to do it I may as well share the results with everyone so at least there is some factual evidence as to which Runescape Forums is actually the most popular.

Pretty interesting. :)

I prefer the Tip.it forums, but i'm sorry to say I use RuneHQ for guides and RSBandB for calcs.

Traitor eh?

Did you consider any of the smaller communities like RS Inn and Bloodveld?

"Warning: If you are reading this then this warning is for you. Every word you read of this useless fine print is another second off your life. Don't you have other things to do? Is your life so empty that you honestly can't think of a better way to spend these moments? Or are you so impressed with authority that you give respect and credence to all that claim it? Do you read everything you're supposed to read? Do you think every thing you're supposed to think? Buy what you're told to want? Get out of your apartment. Meet a member of the opposite sex. Stop the excessive shopping and masturbation. Quit your job. Start a fight. Prove you're alive. If you don't claim your humanity you will become a statistic. You have been warned- Tyler"

tip it owns all :D glad to see its number 1, the only forum i ever use :D

Where exactly did you get the # members from? I know tipit is popular, but 2m population? I have my doubts.

Taking a look at the memberslist, 1777 pg x 50 members/pg ~ about 88k is more reasonable.

All I learned in life, I learned on Tip.it

Nice findings indeed... I need to ask you though, when counting the posts and members, did you use the stuff at the bottom of the index on the relative forums, or the id which new posts/topics get? IMO the later would be the more percise, since i believe that the numbers at the bottom of the index is also effected by pruning/deletion of users and posts...

I used the figures at the bottom for those forums that I knew weren't being pruned, but for those forums that were being pruned I tracked them with their IDs for 48 hours and then assumed that there would be a similar amount of posting on the ensuing ten days. But you are right the latter would have been a better option, except it would have required that I sign up to all the forums... and well I got lazy.... Still I'd say whilst those results are probably not perfect they'd be fairly close (within 10%) and they give more of a good overview than anything.

Runehq is the main forum that I use but since it's down right now being updated I decided to register on these forums and am impressed. However, if you need the best and sometimes only buddy and blobby kits offered runehq is the place to go... they offer extensive gfx support as well

I used to be admin for sal's realm ... Im not surprised it got this far! :P

Indeed :D Just making sure... and i mean, even though tip.it isn't pruned ('cept for the market boards that is), we still actually delete some posts, most likely not like 100 a day, but it does happen ;)

Yes most forums to a degree do delete posts, but again without all the forum owners giving me admin to all their forums, my ability to see the intricate detail and setup of each different Runescape Forum is always going to be hard, so I'm forced to make some general assumptions, and use the occasional guestimate...... I generally just figure that most forums will be run and administered much the same as each other.

Anyway, this little study seems to have sparked some general interest amongst more than just the Tip It community, but the general Runescape Community (I posted my finding on some of the other forums as well) so I might do a follow up study in a month or twos time, and I'll make it a little more accurate by using post IDs. It will also be interesting to the growth and development over a period of a month.

I would look forward to it :)
