I want to collect advices from anybody on which crafting method in the free-to-play world is the most effective and least time-consuming. I am currently at crafting lvl 56 and any advice or comment is appreciated :-D

this isnt very cost efficent but is good.

Go to craft guild (need 40craft and brown apron)

Kill cows for hides, tan them into hard leather in guild and get needle and thread and make hard leather bodies, drop em.

I thought of that method too, but thnx for bringing it up to me again.

However, I have been in the crafting guild recently and crafting clay bowls over and over again. Is my method better than the method you have mentioned? I can tell you one thing - it is REALLY boring... x.x

if you have the money, silver bars are pretty good.

Forgive me everyone if this method is genuinely unhonest, but i buy my silver bars 200ea from other players, since I am nearly always short on cash so i train cheapest possible. Silver is very fast exp.

Crafting in F2P is hard.

You will earn 52.5 exp when you make silver tiaras.

You could mine in the crafting guild or buy the silver ($$)

Smelt and craft in the Fally furnace.

Or you could kill cows outside the guild and collect or buy the hides.

Tan in the crafting guild and make hard leathers (35 exp)

Or you could mine clay, use with water, shape, and then fire in the oven

to make clay bowls (33 exp) all inside the guild.

Very little walking required!

Or you could mine gold in the guild or buy ore and

then smelt craft amulets in the fally furnace. (30 exp)

I got to F2P crafting level 75 using silver but that was very expensive.

Hope this helps.

I train crafting by mining a whole bunch of silver in the crafting guild, smelting it, then crafting into tiaras. This can get very time consuming, however, because of all the walking.

I believe the bowl way is probably the most efficient because you can do everything inside the crafting guild, and there doesn't seem to be many people competing for clay rocks, which regenerate pretty fast anyways.

Yeah, I agree. If you don't have the money to spend on Silver ore or Silver bars, just stay inside the Crafting Guild and make Bowls over and over again. Believe it or not, you actually get close (if not the same) EXP per hour as smelting Silver tiaras.

Wow, thnx a lot for all your detailed descriptions.

I got VERY bored last time when I was making clay bowls in the Crafting Guild, but since I want to make diamond amulets, I better stick with the best plan until I succeed T.T

Well this is how I did it.

Lvl 1-about 50

No idea, I did a bit of everything, ammys-only with gems, tiaras, some clay etc.

Lvl 50-62

Clay in the guild. Didnt even think of this til lvl 50. Its much faster than mining gold or silver. But, it gets VERY BORING. After a few thousand bowls you will have had enough. Don't try and do more than 1k bowls at a time, go and train something else and come back. It is also faster than making hides with the cows outside.

Lvl 62-70

I gave in to boredom, bought hides all the way to make hardleather bodies. Cost over 800k but it saved a lot of time. Don't buy them all at once or you end up paying 150+ each. Buy at 100ea in alkarid bank as you go along.

General tips:

Stick at it, but take breaks from crafting. Its not the most fun skill to work on.

Stock up on diamonds. Every now and then stand in a bank and shout "buying all uncut diamonds 2k ea"

Nice investment for when you hit 70. Cut and bank. I had about 75 diamonds when I finally got there.

Craft your gems. Make ammys when you get them. Up to you whether to string and enchant them, I ended up alching instead except for str ammys. Stringing gets 4xp for crafting I think, not worth the hassle of shearing sheep.

I have more or less made back all the money I spent on hides by selling power ammys. Glad I went for it, nice skill to have.

Note:hides sell for 17gp each in the store. 100gp a hide plus 3gp tanning - 17gp selling is 86gp per hide 35xp.

Mine silver in the crafting guild, tele back to faldor, smelt, craft tiaras, run back to guild. This way is the best training method in f2p in my opnion. Not only will you get crafting exp, but you'll train 3 other skills as well. Work extremly well if your past lvl 50 crafting as the larger amounts of silver you mine and smelt will add greatly to your other skills. No other training path works this many skills in f2p this well.

I started crafting by gaining a few levels from pottery. Then i discovered leather, and killed cows in lumbridge, tanned in alkarid, sewed and sold to general store. Whenever i found gems, i would make those into amulets. Once i reached 40, i mined silver in the guild, and made it into holy symbols. Later i tried killing cows at the crafting guild, tanning, sewing, and dropping. I think this is the best way since you dont have to use water with your raw product, then use it with a wheel, then use it with a furnace. You just kill cows, tan, and sew. Of course, you lose a miniscule amount of money. I lost a couple k to get from crafting 45 to 50. However, it did take me several hours. I got to craft all the rubies that had been collecting in bank, and now im not going to do anything that has to do with crafting for several months 8-)

i cant say that i am a good crafter or anything, but i just went to the crafting guild, mined silver ores, made them into bars, and crafted them into holy star symbols, then high alched them

you are getting crafting xp when you are making silver bars and crafting holy symbols

and by alching them, you level your magic

i havent been on in a while though, due to computer problems, so there might be changes

if you are interested in helpin me out, plz read my post
