May 28, 200620 yr Started out as a speed painting, now it's becoming a small-scale digipainting WIP. I wonder if I'll actually finish this one... :?: Reference from sxc.hu Drawn in Photoshop 7 using default brushes and a Intuos3 tablet Final Update: Friday, June 08 ~15 minutes Finished it off roughly. Well.. it was a learning experience! :| Update: Monday, May 29 ~25 minutes Small update for now. Putting this on a little "pause" to see if I can get anything done for Godslayer's Knight contest. Here's a little workup of a basic sky, with a reflection. I might end up changing the colour of the water to fit the new sky... Here's a concept sketch of how I'm thinking of doing the reflections. My light source arrow is kinda off, but you get the point :P Update: Saturday, May 28 ~1 hr Here it is so far. Any tips on shading/rendering realistic grass? Steps
May 28, 200620 yr That is so hawt! You really should cut some of that to make a lovely sig... :o That is amazing... Finish it!
May 28, 200620 yr Liking the water shadows :) grass...just like anything else I guess, lay down base shading then put the detail...but it is a pain.
May 28, 200620 yr Nice work there mate... Can't paint on computers myself always seemed so hard... course i never did get a computer till i was like 12 and that was a mac (which fyi are digital power houses for image useing and such but really stink for just drawing and haveing fun) Anyway good work can't wait to see another hour into it New sigzor^^
May 29, 200620 yr looking nice man, but im confused why is there a shadow being casted from the land into the water on both of the water banks? there is 2 suns now? :P haha jk but yeh am i getting it all wrong or is that a mistake? anyway very nice work man im loving it, i hope to soon get my tablet and begin painting soon :)
May 29, 200620 yr omfg... what program are you doing that in or are you doing it in RL like on a canvas?
May 29, 200620 yr I wish I had a program that alloud me to paint like that. Do you know of any good free ones?

May 29, 200620 yr Author You really should cut some of that to make a lovely sig... Heh, maybe, but don't expect to be seeing many of my digital paintings in anyone's sigs (except maybe my own! hah) grass...just like anything else I guess, lay down base shading then put the detail...but it is a pain. Hah yes, there is always some sort of pain when painting the details :) But it's still fun... looking nice man, but im confused why is there a shadow being casted from the land into the water on both of the water banks? there is 2 suns now? haha jk but yeh am i getting it all wrong or is that a mistake? Sorry... As RcS89 said, they are supposed to be reflections of the hills & mountains. Any tips on how I could make them look more reflection-like? omg... what program are you doing that in or are you doing it in RL like on a canvas? Adobe Photoshop 7, as I said above. :) Just the default brushes and a tablet... I wish I had a program that alloud me to paint like that. Do you know of any good free ones? Most shareware painting programs offer trials, like Photoshop, openCanvas and Painter IX. Painter & openCanvas are specifically tailored towards digital painters, whereas Photoshop was originally meant for Photo Editing & basic CG. As for freeware... They might not be as powerful, but will still work fine for digital painting. In a lot of digipaintings, or at least in speed paintings, you can get away with painting on a single layer and using only a small variety of brushes. Many of the programs below offer layering and plenty of art brushes to make things even easier for you. http://www.artweaver.de/index.php?en_version http://www.ambientdesign.com/artrage.html http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/index.html - Open source http://www.squirreldome.com/cyberop.htm http://www.rendera.net/
May 29, 200620 yr Mmhh... I couldnt never do such art myself. *sigh* Back to the MSPaint i quess. Finish it. It's pretty hawt right now but i know it would be better. Meow?
May 29, 200620 yr Thanks for the links Venomai, downloading Artweaver right now. On your latest, I think the the cloud would be helped if you deepened the shadows and pusshed the values of them and really give them some more dimension. Just IMO.
May 30, 200620 yr http://www.download.com/Deep-Paint/3000 ... ag=lst-0-1 That link will take you to the free version of Right Hemisphere's Deep Paint. Good stuff there, including layer support.
June 1, 200620 yr Sorry... As RcS89 said, they are supposed to be reflections of the hills & mountains. Any tips on how I could make them look more reflection-like? ummm u know alot more than me so i feel kinda aqward suggesting somthing but i guess u could maybe add more highlights because i believe that it looks like a shadow to me is because um it looks like its being casted down onto the water because its a darker form of the water next to it... so maybe add more highlights so it looks like the water is reflecting the bank, and maybe add more brown and maybe some green that is the grass overhanging the bank.. thats a very hard question but and its out of my knowlege so thats just a guess.
