cmeski
There is a workshop, just northeast of varrock. But doesn't that still cost money just to make the plank. I don't see why we can't make them without paying someone to make them for us.

Mirror
I just hate it how those who have no money in the first place cant work on this. But hey they needed to get money out of the economy some how. Which is why I think we'll see more people merchanting Death and Chaos Runes to get cash to work on this. This new skill seems like Magic in RSC. Only the rich could afford to work on it. We'll probably be seeing alot of people stopping in the mid 50's and not carrying on (after the initial "OMG I gotta lvl up like mad!" phase) to the higher levels. I can just go to my friends house. I can't make money out of it, and it costs an absolute bomb. My only hope is that Jagex is being uber-sneaky - those who have the cash to waste will waste it in the first couple of weeks, then perhaps they will lower the prices, getting a decent drain out of the economy. booduz69
The thing is, people have been talking about Player Owned Houses since long before Runescape 2. Even if Jagex knew there would be no point to them, they would still have to release them to stop all the hype and whatever else. To be fair, POH's are more fun than anything else. Anybody who was in The Valor's house has to admit that the Combat Ring is fun. It's a cool way to have duel with friends without the hassle of the wilderness or duel arena. Somewhere along the line Jagex probably thought about a solution to the inflation; in my opinion, this seems like the perfect opportunity to implement it. If they didn't find someway of getting rid of cash, people would complain. Regarding the construction skill, it would be impossible to make POH's without bringing in a new skill. Jagex have got to the point now where they couldn't bring out a skill that was just basic clicking, like fishing for example. You click at the spot, wait 'till you have a full load and then bank. Same with things like mining and woodcutting. If they brought out another skill like that, people would complain more. I suppose my point is this; don't be so quick to judge something. Yes, maybe Jagex do make mistakes sometimes, but they try their best. This post is for all the people "whining", because it is too expensive. There have been too many of these sort of topics around, thought i may aswell tell you my thoughts on the matter.
Y2g2003
I would hardly call what anyone is doing whining... it seems like a legit claim to me. Some of the items need to be expensive. Like the Thrones, mounted heads, trophies, and what not. Basic things like chairs, workbenches, chairs, curtains (the cheap two at least), and what not shouldn't cost a whole lot. Simple way to fix that is make Normal planks and Teaks cost nothing, or next to nothing, to make... and make Mahogany (sorry if I spelt that wrong) expensive. And make all the other unique items (like the magic gem or whatever) cost a good deal. Even the prices for that I feel should be tweaked a bit (a 25 mill throne is a bit much, even for the pesky merchants). I'll probably never get into the skill myself, let alone renewing members, but I think the prices on certain items need to be revised just slightly. And plank in general should be able to be self made once a proper level is achieved (even if the requirements are extremely high). Mirror
I guess you hit it on the nail head. 25 mil is a bit steep. Well I hope everything gets settled out with prices, I hope.
