zerofiend14
well i got the my OGT test result, the OGT is Ohio graduation test, all sophomores(grade 10) take and have to pass to graduate well i got Reading-accelerated Writing-accelerated Social Studies-advanced :P Science-proficient Math-accelerated soooo i PASSED :D
tintmangbpack
congratulations, but if it is anything like the Utah profiency test, It would have been more surprising not to pass. Not to sound an arrogant jerk, but from my expericences, the state test are a joke and are super easy. Test like the SAT or ACT, or even AP testing, are the only hard test that you take in high school, but then again that is my opinion. Your true character is what you are like when you believe there are no repercussions.

tintmangbpack
Yeah the english AP was a pretty tough one, but personally I thought the BC Calculus AP test was the hardest. For those of you who don't know, it is the hardest Math Class you can take in normal, public high school. Your true character is what you are like when you believe there are no repercussions. vladmoney
yea the OGT is a joke, i was the last year not to take it, but we took a practice version. I am pretty sure i got almost a perfect on everything, even writting (and i suck at at writting). It is really there to prevent all the dumb people from trying to ride through hs just with Ds in all the joke classes. For those of you who don't know, it is the hardest Math Class you can take in normal, public high school. Haha. Don't kid yourself. It may be the hardest math class in your school, but I went to a "normal, public high school" and it definitely wasn't the hardest. You have obviously never taken Multi or Diff Eqs. Those classes will make you cry. AP Calc BC is tough, but it's definitely not the hardest math class in high school. I took that junior year and then midway through my senior year math course, BC seemed like a joke. Just something interesting; I was reading somewhere that the AP Calc BC test, although genereally deemed as one of the hardest, was the most well-prepared for AP. So yes your wrong, there is something after. It counts as a local college credit (i still take it in school though). Just something interesting; I was reading somewhere that the AP Calc BC test, although genereally deemed as one of the hardest, was the most well-prepared for AP. My high school, and most that I know of, only go up to calculus - the difference is really when in the system they let kids start algebra, and if they let kids double up with math classes (i.e. geometry and something else concurrently) in the school years. I think it's standard for Multi / Diff Eqs / Linear Algebra to be offered to first year college students, though of course there are tons of schools that go more advanced beyond the standards. I only went up to AP calc in high school, and now I'm a math major in college, so it's all good :D Also, I know someone who for silly reasons didn't even take calculus in college - and he's majoring in math too! So even though high schools have massively different standards of preparation, it all generally works out in the end. It's easier to tell the differences among high schools in something like math, whereas differences in English standards are far more subjective, but also worrisome. Public education needs to be improved across the board, with more support both for the top students AND the bottom ones. Everybody hug and spread the love :D
pedm
Yeah, my school only offers up to AB Calculus. One of the middle schools does let one or two students to skip two years of math and do algebra in seventh grade. I was one of the two so now I have senior year open to do some other course (yes, I'm only one year ahead because I didn't take the test I needed to early enough :( .) I'm planning on taking some online course during school and teaching myself some math. Any suggestions... I have taken a student-tought linear algebra course at MIT, but understood hardly any of it (although my school is funny and does geo before algebra 2 - the prereq. was geo, which was assuming I had done algebra 2 already.) It was still rather enjoyable though, and nobody there really understood it, even two seniors headed to WPI and Harvard. Also, what's the difference between AB Calculus and BC Calculus? Does BC teach the same stuff as AB and then some, or is it another AP course that you would take after AB? Thanks PDM PDM
